Highly, HIGHLY recommend... I took it myself way back in 2001 and even taught the course for a few years. Ton of fun.

For a LOT LESS than the cost of a new Navi (it's just 200 bucks in RI I think) you spend a whole weekend learning on (and possibly dropping) someone ELSE'S bikes instead of your own under the watchful eye of trained Rider Coaches. At the very least, by the end of the class you know without a doubt whether or not motorcycles are really something you actually want to get into (it's rare, but I've actually seen people change their minds after the course). And a passing score gets you your motorcycle license, an insurance discount, and you'll also know whether or not you're ready for the Rebel right out of the gate (And in all honesty you probably will be. The Rebel is a fantastic beginner bike).

There really isn't a single reason not to. It's a guaranteed winning investment. Worst case scenario, you find out riding isn't for you and you saved yourself the cost of a Navi and the hassle of selling it.
It's a no-brainer in RI as it's so cheap. It's subsidized in RI which makes it half the cost compared to MA.

    Re: 2022 Honda Navi

Just got back from Costa Rica where we saw a bunch of Navi's. I was admiring this white one (which is unfortunately not an option in the states yet) and the owner turned out to be our waiter. He told me he rides it 85km at a time a few days a week and enjoys the fuel economy.

My GF really liked it as well. She still doesn't ride the Z125 I got her and seemed excited about the whole no-clutch thing. I'm still torn whether I should get something like this for her or get us both e-bikes with a throttle. I've been enjoying my commute on the Z so I'm a lot more serious about a Navi for her, but our registration fees are ridiculous which would favor the ebike.

    Re: 2022 Honda Navi

I’m still really excited for ours. The first one should be here any day, and the second one is due in April. Not sure where you’re located but you’re welcome to take one for a spin. I plan to register them both as mopeds to keep registration costs in check.

I appreciate the offer but I'm a bit too far... I suggested we rent one while we were in Costa Rica but neither of us were excited enough to give up our daydrinking on the beach I imagine it's similar to the Z125/Grom, just with a CVT.

Per MA rules, mopeds must be <50cc and have a maximum speed of 30mph, and must observe a 25mph speed limit. Otherwise it needs to be registered as a motorcycle.

    ^^^what he said

    moped
A moped must have an automatic transmission, an engine capacity that doesn’t exceed 50 cc and can not go faster than 30 miles an hour. A moped needs a registration sticker from the Registry of Motor Vehicles to operate on the roads, and can be parked on a sidewalk.

    limited use
The new law includes an additional category of two- to three-wheeled vehicles, called “limited use” vehicles. These vehicles
can go faster than 30 mph and reach a top speed of 40 miles an hour. Unlike mopeds, these vehicles need to meet federal safety certification, be titled,
inspected, insured and registered with the RMV which now has a distinctive plate for limited use vehicles. An operator of a limited use vehicle must have a driver’s license unless it is federally certified as
a motorcycle, then a motorcycle license or permit is required.

    motorcycle
A two- or three-wheeled cycle that goes faster than 40 miles an hour can be registered as a motorcycle. An operator needs a motorcycle license to operate,
and the motorcycle must meet federal safety certification for a motorcycle, be titled, insured, inspected and registered with a motorcycle plate.

The Registry of Motor Vehicles announced in July that moped operators whose vehicles now meet limited-use requirements will be required to insure, title, register and inspect their vehicles when their current moped registration expires.

do you know of anyone who has registered one as a moped?...cause the engine size is over 50cc and it goes over 40mph...i know there is a limited use vehicle list that hasn't been updated since Oct 2021 and the navi isn't on it...so when you go to register they will probably check in their database and make you register as a motorcycle

It's a Yamaha Riva. They made everyone get plates instead of stickers, but nothing else changed. Mine has a moped plate on it.

I saw one in Hartford this past weekend in line with a bunch of groms. If it wasn't the green one I would have missed it. Looked cool as all hell. I'm still on the fence about picking up a pair.

I'm calling dealers today/this weekend to get pricing. If I can get one not marked up way beyond MSRP I'll pick one up or order. She wants the Ranger Green but would take a Red.

You should be able to get a Ranger Green sooner than red (assuming they're not sold out). I ordered a Ranger Green and a Nut Brown, and my buddy ordered a red. The green is actually due in today, and the brown and red aren't due until late-March. Sounded like neon green came first, Ranger Green second, and brown and red last.

Oh, and mine weren't marked up at all. Normal dealer fee BS, but I think it was $4800 for both.

It's funny, if looking at fees compared to MSRP your scenario added more than 30%, which seems crazy to me...but I understand this is an unusually low MSRP and their typical freight/setup applies regardless of size/price.

Of the 6 dealers I called so far, only 1 is willing to take a deposit but is uncertain on delivery. All dealers said they do not know what they would charge for setup fees yet and one dealer even told me to expect to pay double. Debating if I'll put a deposit down, wait for demand to slow, or wait for someone to inevitably post theirs on the used market.

Yeah I had initial sticker shock on that, especially because I almost never buy bikes from dealers. They're flat fees, so they'd be the same on a Panigale. I don't have them in front of me, but it was like $200 for paperwork, $300 for dealer prep, and whatever MA sales tax is (6%?).

    Re: 2022 Honda Navi

    It's here! IT'S HERE!!!!

We finally took delivery of Navi #1 in Ranger Green, of course, my wife's. My brown one should be here in a few weeks.

Initial impressions are great. Has plenty of pep with my 220# self on it. It's carb'd and has drum brakes, but you'd never know. The biggest surprise was the size; it's been years since I sat on a Grom, but it's got to be the same size. For reference, my wife is about 5'7" and I'd say it's a great fit for her. When mine shows up I might swap taller bars onto it, but maybe not. Components are cheap, but not junk. Suspension was fairly stiff.

So far, zero complaints or regrets.

    Re: 2022 Honda Navi

Does it feel more like your on a scooter or on a grom?
My neighbor has been complaining about the small fuel tank capacity. The gas stations around here have a minimum fill up amount of a gallon so he has to over pay by a lot at every fill up. When he figured in the cost it was like he was getting about 30mpg or basically paying double or more for gas unless he runs it really low. He can only go 50 or 60 miles before he switches to reserve then it's fill up time.
I must admit after talking to him it's kinda killed my desire for one. Seems like it really needs a bigger tank unless your in an urban environment, which I am not.
