I don't understand why you guys think power wheelies are so much more dangerous.
I can't seem to clutch up 2nd gear for the life of me, or I'm just not willing to beat my clutch that bad. The 1000 is geared pretty high in 2nd.
I clutch up 1st all the time but in 2nd I have to bounce the suspension, pull, and gunnit!

either.. i usually sit though i dont like stand ups
THINK...I know for a fact they are seeing as I lost a good friend to a POWPOW wheelie...
What happens with a power wheelie is it doesn't come up right away so your giving it as much gas as possible..so your speed goes up a ton. Then car pulls out or a dog runs by and your already doin 100 splat. And there is many vids of people putting them down and getting a violent tank slapper and then they eat shit....cause the bike is screaming at rev limiter from a POWPOW Wheelie...
so instead of doing 100 you can clutch it up at any speed and get it verticall and keep the speeds down, have more controll and balance..but it does take more kill and if you cant do right then don't DO THEM at ALL..
but You can Do what you want....Im really just a squid in training

I had until recently a 06' GSXR-1000 with stock gearing and that would come up extremely easy in 2nd @ a wide range of speeds.
If you need to bounce a GSXR 1K your doing it wrong.
Started riding in 94' and the only clutch I replaced in 30+ bikes was my first bike a 78' CB750F.
I've been clutching up my bike for 6 yrs and the clutch is mint. Once you find the right rpm for whatever speed you're going you barely hurt the clutch, that's my opinion anyway. Haven't had to adjust the cable at all since I bought the bike new.
Again just my opinion but I think stand ups are easier. You can stagger your left foot to the rear passenger peg so you can actually stand up and not feel like your feet are pushing the bike fwrd.
Caloots, get at me me sometime and we'll have a training session.
I haven't tried clutching second since I installed the revised clutch washer (which made a huge difference). I could try it. But I like what I do. works in 3rd also. All sitting. I don't like the stand ups.

im with pigman..
its common sense... the bike wants to come up to aggressively under power.
clutchin it easier and can be done at lower speeds.
on anotha note..
check out this asshat.. this is just awesome
