Might be slightly out of the budget constraints for nhbubba though.

Never insinuated that I would want to take a DR650 on single track either........

FWIW, this is what I want.

A DR650 would work fine. I just think I can do better.

Who knows what about the 2012+ BMW G650 GS, especially the "Serato" (the one with the 21/17 spoke hoops).

    425 lbs wet
    EFI
    ~45 hp
    ABS, heated grips, all that
    Nice quality hard-cases available
Cool AF underseat gas setup (like the 690/701)

Weak-sauce 41mm (same as KLR) right-side-up damper rod forks

Looks like cats do YZ450 fork swaps to it!
Reports of hard starting due to a shitty de-comp design.
Supposedly pretty gas 'n go. Strikes me as the least BMW-y of the BMWs.
Chain is on the wrong side of the bike.

Only 2400 miles home.. on a thumper with no screen. Can't wait.
Best priced 690 locally is still in the $7k region.

    Then there's this guy : 2013 KTM 690 Enduro - $9000

    That sounds heavy as dick.

That 790R is the business. It is a full ADV version of my hyper, which I have always thought would be a best in class bike. It makes my short list.

My only beef is it's a parallel twin, not a V.

    650 thumpers

Finally finally finally. That 790R is gonna hit my coffee shops and office park lot in high style...if it has cruise control.

    Re: 650 thumpers

The F850GS has electronic cruise now too. Finally.
Tiger 800 has had it on some (the **x?) trims for a while.
I really wish the KTM were a V-twin. That'd give you a nice choice between parallel twin, triple or V-twin.
Someday Yamaha may stop teasing this segment too. Someday.

    Re: 650 thumpers

The world raid t7 looks decent, but the other thing at this years eicma looked like a bolt with longer legs. It’s gross.
And not the kind of gross even I think I could overlook, and I’ll ride just about anything.

I think I missed that. I'm kind of pissed with Yamaha for teasing this almost 3 years ago and still not having anything to show.
That and I committed to something else. So.
