    6d helmets review?

Anyone wear a 6d helmet? To what brand would you compare it against? I wear AGV because I find the shape fits my head better. It adds pressure on the forehead that I don't see with Shoei or Bell. So I guess you could say AGV is more round and less oval?

Have not tried one, but do want. I think in your case I would go for almost regardless of fit.

    Re: 6d helmets review?

I assume you mean street, but I've tried a dirt one on and own an AGV dirt helmet. ~58-59cm head. It's been a while since I tried it on, but I took notes at the time. It was an XL, and still had a surprisingly tight opening. Once on, it fit pretty good. I wonder how much the padding will pack down, because I'm surprised the XL felt right. I think I have an oval to long oval head - but I've been taking notes on helmets because I'm struggling to find a street helmet I really like the fit of. Icon Airmada Large is probably the closest I've found that I liked. The Shoei GT-Air, RF1200, and X14 all in Large were close to right in shape but not deep/tall enough.

My AGV dirt helmet is a Medium, and doesn't fit great. Feels more suited for someone with a rounder head than mine. I've tried on a K3 twice, both times medium. I have one note that says it fit terrible, way too small. And another that says it felt pretty good...what clown wrote these notes? My note that it fit badly was more recent, and more confident.

Paul, if you mean for dirt, i wouldn't. the 6D is 3.5+lbs. would feel like a boat anchor compared to your Suomy.

Once upon a time I had to take a picture of my Suomy on a scale to "educate" another racer on their weight. He no believe.

This was for Roadracing. The tech is the first real step forward in helmet safety in 25 years. The other companies have convinced everyone fit is the most important thing, but that's only cause they have nothing else to market! This is the future.

I came from an Icon Domain Large helmet and went with a Bell RS-1 in Large. Granted the RS-1 is no longer available, I also have a MX-9 Adventure in Large that fits the same. Very comfortable. I'd imagine the Bell Star line would be a good replacement.

If you're talking about MIPS, Bell has a few helmets with it already. The MX-9 Adventure and the Qualifier DLX street helmet both have MIPS versions.

You're also not giving Suomy the credit they deserve for the safety features they introduced to the industry over a decade ago.

I dig my Suomy. I just think 6D has a better design than anyone out there yet, even the other mips versions.

6D doesn't claim to be MIPS, though it's conceptually similar. I want to say there's some explanation as to why their system is better for high speed applications over MIPS.

Narbonne and LaForge wear them if you'd like to solicit firsthand feedback.
