    7th Gen (2010-up) Honda VFR1200 aka Shamu

Do any of you guys have any experience with one of these.

If all goes to plan I will be the new owner of a left over 2010 in a week or so.

Just looking for some real reviews from someone other than a moto-journalist.

    thanks.

Been looking at them for a while. Long story short is this: the bike is everything previous gen VFR owners did not want. Heavy, small tank, expensive, restricted in 1st & 2nd gear (2010 model), polarizing looks (to some), horrible sounding exhaust even with aftermarket exhaust, etc., etc.. They have sold horribly with many dealers still holding numerous 10's. I think Bettencourt has 3 or something like that.

Now the good. It's a very fast, great handling and capable sport touring bike. I happen to like the looks and it has a fantastic engine, great brakes and beautiful fit and finish. They are being discounted like crazy (some 12's are selling for 11200 OTD) but don't expect to be able to flip one if you get a deal cause few are buying. 12's have nice upgrades; unrestricted gears (1&2 gears on 10's can be unrestricted with Bazazz), traction control, slightly larger fuel tank, redesigned seat, among other things. Good luck, I think it's a great bike.

For background, I have spent about 10 or so hours riding the 1200. About half on a '10 and half on a '12.

im coming from an SV1000S so anything that the gas light dosent come on after 115 miles is a win in my book.

I heard about the restriction thing in 1-2. this bike also makes 60 more hp than my last bike, so ill be okay with it for a while.

I was looking to get into a sport tourer. and this 10 was cheap enough to justify. and it came with the factory hard bags. WIN
