The 25mil kits is where its at.......
Almost done...
I finally caved and just bout the Ohlins 30mm cartridges.
Spent a few hours today making the special tools for the install. Other than a couple special tools the installation is really straightforward:

There really is a huge difference from the stock valving:

I also scored a nice used 1/4 turn gas cap:

Starting to look proper:

I also got my hands on some decals:

the fork caps not being aligned straight would bother me. sometimes I have OCD.
Looks great Tricky
I just wet myself.....
Killer build!:hbang2:
Excellent work!
Makes me wonder how in the world I'm ever going to get done a similar build on my bike, with a fraction of your apparent knowledge and skill in a short time window.
Looks like you have a great shop set up, as well.
Thanks for sharing. Good stuff, for sure. Awesome skills!
Wow, mechanical sex right there (and I'm not talking the type that gets stuck on HI and and makes your dink look like a balloon poodle tail either).
Pavement magnet.
Awsome job Mike. Looks like a factory race bike only better!
Wow, man. That looks amazing. Did you manage to weld a banana anywhere?
Lets try this again...... So THAT's where I left my 848. I was wondering! Just drop it by my place anytime.
Hey Mike, I'm thinking about changing my 749's tripple thingy. On a scale of 1-10, how happy are you with the Ducshop offset tripples?
Suggestions on where to shop?
It completely transforms the 848. I know the 749R's have adjustable offset, so there's likely a lot to be gained in your case from making the switch. Tim Hogan races a 749R and a 749 base model (maybe an S?). He could likely elaborate on the geometry differences if he sees this.
Alternatively just ring up Marc Sutton at DucShop or the guys at Seacoast. A wealth of knowledge in both cases.
I never road my 749 with the 36mm setting. My set up is 24.5 rake(street setting) and the triple in the 30mm position. this gave me 103mm trail as measured by GMD. I DID ride the bike with the rake in the 23.5 setting. GMD measured the trail to be 93-95 , can't remember. We moved the rake to gain trail. I did not want to buy triple and this gave me the trail I needed.
I never really "felt" much from the front end until we made the change. Now I have a much better feel and less, to no, head shake and it finishes corners better(it always wanted to go wide). I would HIGHLY recommend doing whatever it take to get the trail up there. I'm sure Adam at Seacoast can give some feed back on the quality of the Ducshop triple. Whenever I'm looking for a new part they're the ones I fall back on.
