Well, you won't have to worry on your downshift into 6, that's for sure.

    Re: 848EVO Track Build

So, I'm getting ready to paint and since I'm not really in a huge rush I decided to spend a little time building a temporary spray booth.
I still need to hang the plastic and seal everything up, but I'm hopeful I can keep the dust at bay and not blow myself up.

There are two 20" box fans up top pushing air in through two 20" HVAC filters and then out through a single filter at the bottom. I'm hoping to create a little bit of positive pressure in there. The thought is that the fans (and that light, and everything else, really) will be outside of the plastic and therefore outside of the vapors. I did a bunch of digging on car forums and it seems many have used this same approach with success. Since I'm only spraying a little bit at a time I should have enough air flowing through to keep things relatively safe

I also mounted up a new set of Dunlop rains I picked up on clearance. Pretty stoked on these. I've never had a new set of rains.

the new paints are real health issues. make sure you have a good charcoal respirator at least. a fresh air system would be better.

No doubt. It's nasty stuff. I have a respirator rated for the paint and keep the filters fresh. I agree fresh air would be better.

they have really paint that is water based now. I'm don't know anything but won't that be safer/less toxic?

Keep in mind, I tired to buy paint for my bike from a body shop supply for the guy who was painting it. When they asked what I was using to apply it I told him a spray gun. The guy looked at me like was kidding and almost laughed. I still don't know why. I had to have the painter call.

    Yeah, I bet it would

I just hung the plastic, put in a zipper door, sealed it up and turned the fans on. The plastic balloons out under pressure and air really pours out of that vent by the floor (that's going to be ducted out the open garage door while spraying). Looks like it's circulating air pretty efficiently. Seems like it should work. I think I have around $100 invested in it, and except for the plastic and maybe the filters I should be able to reuse everything in the future.

That's WAAAY safer than the booth I created once. You'll be fine. It's not like you'll do this ever again... lol.

I made something similar to paint my bike last year. It worked pretty good, but make sure you have several extra filters for the exhaust, they clog up with paint particles pretty quickly.

That's an understatement... Looks good. Those filters will last a few of your small paint jobs.

Yeah, I added an additional exhaust filter before I started spraying to get some more surface area/ more air flowing. They clogged up in no time...
    Hmmmmmmmm.........
Paint laid out nicely, though. First time using a new Devilbiss HVLP gun. Worth the money. I can imagine what the big$$ guns are like.

After a few coats of base. Still need to spray some pearl and clear it, but I wanted to test everything out before I got too far involved. Sprayed base on the front fender and the intake tubes.

Really no prep required with this Armour Bodies bodywork. I just scuffed it up with a maroon scuff pad and sprayed away.
    So far so good...

Just put my stuff either behind your stuff or in front of the exhaust filter. I'm going for an overspray look.

    Re: 848EVO Track Build

So, I debated painting the tank. I'd have preferred not to, but the white I picked out doesn't match. No big deal since I'm painting anyway, but I didn't realize that Ducati clear coated over the stickers. Bollocks.
Was hoping I could just scuff and paint... Nope.. THEN I was hoping I could just sand down the clear a bit after removing the stickers. Nope there too.

A little polyester putty to the rescue.

Finished the white basecoat today and sprayed some pearl this afternoon. Hoping to wrap up the base with some red (and maybe black) tomorrow and clear it on Weds.
