    9 years in the making

I have a mental list of bikes I took a liking to and said "I WILL own one of these one day". On that list was a ZRX, KLR, Vmax among others.

Been doing pretty good on my list as you all can probably see. Got the Vmax earlier this year so I was pretty sure that would be it for bike buying for a while, especially considering the huge garage project I'm undertaking. Never thought I'd cross of one of the final bikes off my list this year, but I did.

Just so happened that the stars aligned thanks to Degsy remembering my racebikes being for sale and mentioning it to someone interested in lightweight bikes. They were sold to the new owner at 4:30pm on Friday afternoon. By 5:10 I was in the truck with my wife going to pick up the new track/fun bike.

4 hours of driving later, this was in the basement.

Josie has already claimed the seat as her own.

She's got a set of Conti RaceAttack tires on it, a Penske, Traxion front end, etc etc. Has been owned by NESR people in the past and has been taken care of.

Very much looking forward to flogging it on the track with the likes of all you twin front disk brake people.

I will say, those EX500's have made me the rider I am today. I get off one of those, get on my portly ZRX with touring tires mounted up, and still embarrass quite a few people at the track. Even though I don't own one anymore, I will NEVER badmouth an EX500 for track/race duty. It is a bike that makes you work hard and keeps you honest. I sure will miss them.

It was either that or a Husaberg. But just when I was ready to throw down for a brandy new FS570, I got enough wind about welded cranks to make me think otherwise. Still want one, just not as a primary trackday bike. Come springtime, we'll see if I'm still going that route.

Great lookin' bike. I really like the SV, even though I've never owned one. My interest in the SV is what put me on a V-Strom, ultimately.

Curious, for track duty, why not shoot for an SV-S with the plastics?

More of a naked bike fan, and this one had all the suspension goodies I wanted done to it already.

I'll probably go clip-ons and rearsets in the future to make it just a bit more big track friendly. Should be fine as it sits for Loudon though.

What year is it? I'm taking the SV clipons off of my bike in a couple weeks because they weren't made for it and cause steering clearance issues. They're Woodcraft, I can hook you up!

What size are the fork tubes? I have a set of 52mm clip-ons that came off my TLS.

I think mine will fit. They're made for the 08s but I think they're the same from like 02 on.

I just have to get the OEM bars and motivation.

For the 650R? I still have mine laying around somewhere. I can dig 'em up if you're interested.

Yes, please. Now we just need to get something Clayton has that you want and we can make it a 3-way-trade.

No practical point of having the plastics at Loudon, unless you need space for sponsor stickers or want to spend more $ when you crash.

Nice pick up, Clayton, you'll love it on track.
