I like being upright, even on the track. Growing up riding dirties, it feels way more natural.
That, and I always feel is if I'm constantly trying to unbend, or straighten out clipons.
Even with a race set like woodcrafts, where I can mount them as i like, I put a ton of pressure on them.
Now just copy Gino's tuck and you'll be golden.

I just went the opposite way for opposite reasons. My neck has finally mostly healed from my bike vs. car accident 7 years ago, so I went back to a sportbike. I never felt fully at home on the track with my supermoto, but I did adapt and got the most out of it.

My new Triumph had a radical seating position, even for the track. I put some woodcraft 1.5in riser clipons on, and it feels about perfect. I'm still a tiny bit awkward on it, but each session feels more natural than the last, so I think i will re-adapt quickly.

I took me a few race weekends to get used my newer r6 and that was coming from a second gen. My lap times were pretty far off at first and I had instant regret that maybe I shouldn't have upgraded.

Weird thing is, when I blew my motor in Jersey, I bought an 848 to ride for the remaining 2 days I felt comfortable on it almost right away.

Funny reading that. Brings back memories of Chris Bruno. I think he tried out Dan Murphy's SV after a few seasons racing EX500s. Well, he crashed on the brakes going into 3. Just wasn't used to having ANY stopping power. LOL. Poor Dan. We crashed the hell out of his bikes.
