    New need advice

All right well heres a little update sorta....(didn't wnat to start new thread)

Insurance quote for sv650(new) w/ collision and all that good stuff was $700yr and basic was $305.

So I`ve been looking around sitting on bikes. I have been leanign to an SV650 with all the advice to but I sat on a Ninja650R and from the specs that I have looked up both of these bikes seem pretty equally matched.

    Any input on the Ninja650r??

If you read all the magazine articles on comparing machines of this class,
the SV always wins by a nose and they use "grin factor" as the reason why.

I am glad I got mine and intend to burn it out, not gonna resell it.
Dunno if that means anything to you.

    New need advice

Well, being as my first bike it does mean a bit to me currently. Because I would like the resale value in two years or so years, compared to the kawa. I was just looking for a few opinions, but from what I have read from everywhere(forums and such on the internet) else it seems like every one still suggest the sv650.

So goes my final question before I start this whole process.....

SV650 more upright positon and obviously naked ( I seena guy drive by me on my way home from work on friday and was a little wowed,by the upright)

SV650(s) I really like the sporty look as far as the different headlight and fairing look go, but I cannot seem, to find a dealer where I can actually try sitting on the machine.

The truth, I have been reading several forums for I'd say about a year. (I rode my first dirt bike a week ago.) ****yet alone, a street/motorcyle two weekends ***NEVER**** ago.

I'd say I have about a 90% chance of buy new because of what I believe to be (OK) in my ***finances*** and the mere fact that I have watched CL(for about a year/same time as forum) and have seen SV650's pop up here and there but never on a consistent basis as far as other bikes go, as I would not suspect them too.

But aslong as this ramble has been( and trust me a ramble because I cannot think about periods and the such right now) on a saturday night at 12:30, the want to know a more of an opnionated persons view beside the guy pushin; for the bigger bike at the shop.(wow first period maybe???)

But Input as far as the SV650 and the (S) model go.

Appreciate your suggestions, will keep you updated because this is the week of the permit and the downpayment.

I think this too****K**** me a complete hour or so..... And I revised that very, very well.

Thanks again guys (forum which I have taken the most info from, and appreciate its comments)

    Thanks again Murph

    oooops.....Missed a "K"

I've had 4 bikes, I started on a gs500 wich i grew out of quickly. My buddy started on a sv650 and kept it for longer mainly because it had more room to grow. You have to respect the power and not overdue it though, it's a fast bike. I'm riding a vtr1000 now and i love the v twin power it's a really fun ride.

Ok, "D" but what I'm really wondering about is the regular SV650 and the

yea I believe as far as my knowledge goes its the same bike, just a different stance of riding I think......+fairings, more or less is it worth the extra $500 to go for the "s" model?

Go sit your ass on some bikes. You need ride time go get the cheapest most comfortable bike you can find. Then ride the fucking piss out of it! Make sure ya save some cake so you can gear yourself.
P.S. Make sure if you end up riding with a group of Goobers like the ones around here, you don't ride abouv your skill level, RIDE OVER YOUR HEAD = CRASH.

    New need advice

I can offer a qualified opinion on the S versus the nude version

S ergonomics are more aggressive, it has clip ons versus "dirt bike bars"
I am tall with long arms so it does not make a difference to me though
some short people will have problems with it.

The S has a fantastic headlight for driving at night ... That is why I chose
it. I commute home at 8pm + every night.

The nude bike is more upright and more comfortable.
If you drop it at a low speed, less plastic to fix and it is cheaper.

The rear sets are identical for both models. (footpegs)

The SV complaints are basically just two .... sucky seat that is hard
on your butt and the front suspension really sucks for anyone who weighs
    over 130 pounds.

First and most important, GET FRAME SLIDERS!
    Motosliders
These will save you HUNDREDS of dollars on a low speed or zero speed drop.
Stay away from the OEM Suzuki sliders ... they are brittle plastic and just break off.
    Pure crap!

The front suspension can be fixed very cheaply ($100) by putting the
correct spring for your weight and thicker fork oil. It is a VERY easy job.
Of course the sky is the limit if you want to go all the way.

The seat, RandyO swears by LDComfort - Motorcycle Riding Shorts, Tops and Tights for Bikers riding shorts.
I never tried them. I changed the seat instead. Don't go with the SV gel
seat, everyone that buys them sells them in six months.
For the nude bike, you can keep your eyes open for a used Corbin or a used
Sargent. If you see one, snap it up right away, they go fast.
For the S version, only the Sargent seat. The Corbin sets your butt too far
    back for comfortable clipon position.

Those are the only three mods that are needed for a beginner.
If you want to feel what a good front suspension feels like, I have a spare
set of forks we can put on your bike for a couple of hours. Takes about
a half hour or so to put on.

The SV aftermarket is unbelievable, there are all kinds of support.

Dunno where you live but the best place I found good prices right on the
floor for SV's is at Freedom Cycle in Concord NH.

I bought my bike at Plaistow Power Sports in Plaistow NH and recommend
them very highly. I was very well treated there.

Take your time and take Beets advice, go sit on one.

Forget about being a big guy on a small bike, I am 6-2, 225 and the SV
    is plenty big for me.

A good deal on a SV is $500 below MSRP.
MSRP at this time of the year is a "fair" deal.
Don't let them tack on all those freight, destination and other crap charges.

If you don't like the price ... walk away, there are PLENTY of good dealers
    if you don't mind traveling.
