Like I said, this is just my opinion (quality down, price wayyy up), put together from several factors:

    - A* used to be the pinnacle of quality gear. These days, the image they give off to me is more that they are the 'designer' category of riding gear. Everything is slick looking and extremely overpriced, and now produced in much larger numbers than in the past. "With enough money, you too can be an A* SUPERSTAR!!!"

    - My gp pros started having a seam come apart from simply WEARING them only after TWO WEEKS of buying them. That is bullshit, and unacceptable. Like I said before, I'm going to write them a letter, and try to get a pair of GP techs out of them. Only decent gauntlet glove they make, from what I've seen.

    - I read a very long article about crash worthiness of 1piece suits. (it was a really great article, I'll try to find it) The roughly $2000 A* suit held up NOWHERE near as good as other similar price-point suits, and many lower priced suits outperformed it quite a bit. One of the standouts was the teknic violator 1piece. If I don't go custom when I get a 1piece, that's the suit I'm going to buy. Compared to a $2000 A* suit, the violator can be found on sale for under 700 bucks, and is evidently better made.

    - I was going to buy a set of gp plus boots, until I found my sidi vertigos. Same exact price, but my feeling at the store was that the comfort, apparent quality of build, and other characteristics were far superior in the sidi. Just another notch on the wall against a*, for me.

Maybe these reasons can be contested by others, maybe they're bullshit, but these things and a string of a few other little things have turned me off to A*. Maybe I'm being stoneheaded about it, but they've just rubbed me the wrong way too many times.

hey ceo, what dealer did you check out? i looked at brockton cycle but their selection for gloves was pretty thin.... at this point i think im just going to go try on as many different brands as i can because an uncomfortable glove irritates me.

I went to several places because I was also looking to get my bike at that same time. I went to riverside, cycles128, brockton cycle, etc.

If you can buy from riverside, I would. They are nice there, the parts girl is nice, and the service manager is a racer and knows his stuff, from what I could tell. Nice folks.

i was told that the A* size is relative to the moto gp size, so if you know your a* size then get the corresponding moto gp size.

Roger that! i just got my custom tailored leathers yesterday for $280 shipped. I like them a lot but im not really in a position to give them an acurate review because this is almost the first set of leathers i have seen in person. I would take pictures of the suit and stitching but my sister lost my camera, however the eBay number is 200181697260 if you wanna check the auction.

What was this thread about? Oh ya...I bought the MotoGP Nitrous gloves from the site listed earlier in this thread (the more expensive one, the cheaper one was out of large).

haha yea, in the pics they dont look as shiny as on any of the sites but i figured for like half the price why not. he said all the stitching was perfect and no wear anywhere so i guess thats good enough for me.

"Cheap" isn't always the best adjective to focus on with safety gear guys!

i know money should not be the main concern when it comes to safety gear, but some of us cant afford the 1200 dollar leathers. im talking value, i heard the chicane suit gets pretty good reviews and at around 500 bucks it looks like a good buy. but thats a thread for another time

Have 3 pairs of A*'s GP Pro (different colors) - never crashed in them, but I wouldn't want to crash without 'em. And I love them for comfort and quality.

Mine held up ok in a crash, but before that one of the seams started coming apart after 2 weeks of normal wear. I'm going to contacting a* and bitching them out.

I guess they hold up better from crashing than from short-term normal wear?
