Altered exhaust ticket WTF!!!!!!!!!
I was curious about that as well. The trooper this morning asked me if i had insurance. Which I have.
I was just given warnings, but the other thing that i was wondering about was, is it in MA's power to cite me for their equipment violations? If I meet all the inspection requirements in NH, is MA able to cite me for their inspection criteria when i'm operating here?

they can get you for noise. Dont know if they can get you for not having insurance but its something they might be able to take you in for and tow your bike.
-
Altered exhaust ticket WTF!!!!!!!!!
Wait...unless I missed it, has anyone clarified whether they can tow your bike just for the exhaust?

I have no problems with this since most of those bikes(choppers) are insanelly dangerous they put big 300+ tires on the back then rake them out so they don't turn at all then they go and eliminate the front disks so the things don't stop either. Some sort of regulations need to be put in place on custom bikes just to keep them safe.

they can tow your bike for any reason, if there is a statuet or law that is in question.

Yup, the law is the law no matter where you are, Ma cops can bag you for Ma laws even if you are from NH

so what might be legal in your residing state and not in a bordering state (or wherever for that matter) means that you cannot legally travel into that state? that is flat out retarded.

Altered exhaust ticket WTF!!!!!!!!!
I don't think that's true..
Hey RdDevil..
First they will come for the choppers and then they will come for us!

I don't doubt that but my point is that they should crack down on things that matter like the unsafe bikes not the stupid crap like is your pipe aftermarket or not.

ANY state can ticket you for not abiding by that states laws--does NOT matter if it's legal in your own state!!
hey rddevil---your point is stupid!!! shut up!! just because your not talented enough to ride a chopper, don't bust on them for being unsafe! wether it be a raked out chopper, a harley, a jap cruiser, a scooter, or a fucking moped, none of them are safe if they were to be ridden like a sportbike!
much like a dumptruck is unsafe if driven like a ferrari!
THINK before you SPEAK!!!

I believe the stupid will weed themselves out, leave the laws alone and leave us the fuck alone... Riding sport bikes the way most of us do, we have to keep these as safe as possible. No need to worry about "Most" of us.

Next time your gonna get pulled over...take no chances on a tow, regardless of what reason you may be getting pulled over. Pull into a PRIVATE lot of some sort. They can not tow from private property. They can wait til you decide to leave and nail yah but by that time my pickup would be on the way with loading ramp. This is, however, a bad sign. I can understand it though. Think about the harleys ripping through some quaint little town in western MA. No one wants to hear that shit, even a sport bike can be obnoxious. There has been many a group ride that we've had dipshits revving and riding too fast through towns. Lucky part is that it's not a "Fix it" ticket, as common in some states. To get back on the road legally you'd have to get the stock pipes back on and get re-inspected. I don't even know how I could track down stock pipes for my bike at this point. Hopefully this cop was just a rogue.

This is whay I have kept my stock pipes in the basement, just in case I run into a issue.

Appeal it, show that it got an inspection sticker, bring your registration and a picture of your plate with valid sticker on it, I bet that would work...

Altered exhaust ticket WTF!!!!!!!!!
But then again...what do I see... Gixxer ripping down 95 with you guessed it...some clone GP pipe running WIDE open. His buddy had a Micron that sounded stock compared to this thing.

Imagine that state X has a drinking age of 21. Imagine that state Y has a drinking age of 18. Would make sense to allow a person who is 19 years old, and lives in state Y, to be allowed to drink in state X, becuase he is allowed to drink in home state of Y? My guess is that you would prolly say no. the way the law / government works is that if you eneter a state, and take the benefits of state law (traffic lights, stop signs, etc), you also need to take the burden. Once you are in state X, Y, Z, you have to follow the laws of that state...(with some exceptions).

I know what you are saying with drinking laws etc. But in regards to MV laws, theoretically it makes sense, but in NH you cannot have your front drivers compartment windows tinited. In MA you can, can you not drive your car into NH? I know you can, but I also know in NH you cannot have ape hanger bars, but inother states you can, but if you have them in NH they will ticket for it?
