    Doc is awesome!

A huge thank you to Doc for leaving his wife and son to come gather the bits and pieces of my friend's bike, whom Doc didn't know. He drove an hour each way to come pick the bike up from the App Gap and haul it to my house, and he even bandaged her up when he got there. No more nurse jokes from me, he came through HUGE when we didn't really have anybody else to turn to.

Incredibly we had a bunch of cars stop to make sure we were ok, but only one bike out of at least 20 stopped. We even had a couple grab the jack out of the back of the car to lift up the guard rail so that we could drag the bike out (which took quite a bit of effort, so without their help it never would have happened). Gives me some faith that humanity isn't completely screwed up yet.

She wants to know what she can do to show her appreciation.

Gas card and a bottle of wine?

That's great to hear. The days when bikers stopped for each other seems to be gone, except for us old-school types. A V-Strom buddy lives on that road, he says that on the weekends it's pretty crazy up there.

    Awww Shucks...

But let's get a few things cleared up.

It was only like 45 mins. ( I tried to get there as fast as I could)

The only reason I bandaged her up was so she wouldn't bleed in my truck.

    You did the heavy lifting.

What can she do to show her appreciation...? She come come to bike night and be a part of the crew... Maybe buy us a pizza. (you are the one that deserves the thanks for having friends with trucks that drop everything to go get a downed bike and rider "Pete")

Oh yeah and she can wear a FRIGGIN JACKET from now on!! Oh and come do a track day.

You know, I was trying to think of a better way to say it so the dirty old minds of NESR wouldn't have a field day with it but gave up after a few tries.

Hahahaha! Funny story! So yesterday i decided spur of the moment to "call into work sick". Took the day off and went for a really nice casual ride with Jo on the back of the bike. We went to Montpelier for lunch and continued down a bit futher south until we got off around exit 3 so that we could take route 100 home and do the smuggler's notch. I decided to pull into a gas station to fule up when seconds later guess who pulls in! Keith!!!!! I know! SOOO COOOL!!!!! He saw me, jacked on the brakes and pulled in ('cause he also had to pee before he did the ap gap)

So Keith's friend comes walking over and i look at her and go "where's your jacket?" Her reply was "It's too hot to wear that stuff." And i didn't poke at it any more then saying that i was in full gear (so was keith) because NO ONE EVER PLANS ON CRASHING!!!

Now truth be told i really do hope she is okay....but it is kinda funny.....

So, I think it's now time for a full description of the "get off". What was she riding? Is she okay? Target fixation? Sand? What turn did it happen on? Etc.

    Re: Doc is awesome!

it was this corner as we were heading up towards the lookout. We were going at a good pace, but still fairly reserved (at least for me). I was in front, so I didn't see much, and it happened so fast that she can't really remember, but as best as I can tell she came around that final corner and had the front end tuck where the road levels off for a moment before continuing upward. I think she was just too far leaned over and when she hit that little transition it must have unweighted the front end enough to cause it to slide out. I don't think she was really riding over her head, as she was going at her own pace for most of the day, but it's tough to say.

The bike went under the guard rail and hit the support post so hard that it dented it (pretty impressive considering it is a steel i-beam) and the bike was firmly wedged under the guard rail. I looked in my mirrors and saw the bike down and immediately turned around, and she was already on her feet. Damage to her was rash on both arms (some wrist, elbow, and shoulder rash, but not too bad considering she was in a tshirt), her knee (the worst of the injuries, jeans just wore through immediately) and her side (pretty minor). It also looked like she hit the guard rail, since the majority of the pain was in her right side, and there was a straight line from where she hit something. The right side of the helmet also sustained some weird damage, not sure what caused it since she slid on her left side.

Bike (2006 R6) is a total loss. The throttle clip-on came off in my hand, the fairing is destroyed, the forks are most likely bent, and the rim is probably damaged from hitting the post. The radiator is also destroyed, tank dented and rashed, left peg and shifter broke off, and the engine got some rash. Amazingly the mirrors survived (that's about it that survived on the front end). Based on how hard it hit the post I wouldn't be surprised if there was frame and/or engine damage as well.

doc helped me on my first track day to get my 748's gremlins oout.. a bike he later bought from me..

i still think the mods should change the name of this thread to "doc is a semi, somewhat alright guy once you get to know him... sometimes"

I'm not sure if anyone from NESR was on the "long, long, long, long ride" about 4 or 5 years ago but one of the riders from RI crashed on this exact same corner, headed uphill. He went over the guardrail and it damaged his Monster and helmet visor.

I heard that he got in an even worse accident later that day on the way home in RI. Anyone happen to remember who that was?
