I am almost ready for the track next year...

So, I am too excited to wait until tonight to post, but I ended up making two big purchases in the last two days. Here they are:

    1. 1999 Black Ford Ranger with some minor fixes to perform but was had for a decent deal imo.

    2. 2007 Black Kawasaki ZX6R with (Two Bros slipon, frame sliders, blacked out windscreen, GPR Stabilizer, Lowering Link some other extras) for a pretty insane deal.

I will need to remove some stuff from the bike like the lowering link but I should be able to sell it so that's good. I also need some ramps now to get the bike up the truck so if anyone is selling theirs for a good deal, hit me up. The only thing I need to decide now is whether or not I want to have ACL surgery in November or try to go another year without surgery and try to get on the track. Not sure how the knee would feel after a full track day or even if it would survive. I am dying to get up to the track but couldn't this year because I didn't want to take the Duc up. At least I have some projects this winter to take care of to get everything ready for the track next year. BoMo best be ready for my return to the track! Looking forward to chillin' with you guys again!

    WIL

btw. I will post some cell phone pics tonight.

Re: I am almost ready for the track next year...

I had ACL replacement when I was 18. Took me 3-4 months of hard P.T. to get back on my feet walking around again. From personal experience, I would have had the surgery sooner because walking around on a almost non existant ACL compared to one that "works" right sucked.

If it where me and I had to make the same choice, I would go for the surgery ASAP before the track season. Especially if you plan to spend a LOT of time on the track. It will make a huge difference.

Congrats on the sweet purchace btw. I'm in the process of buying my new-to-me 06 R6 for the track next year. Very excited.

Unfortunately for me, this is the third time I have torn an ACL. I tore both my ACLs and had them repaired and just retore my left one back in February. Surprisingly enough, I can still run around with a brace. I was able to play softball all summer and singles tennis for 2 1/2 hours straight. The only issue is running for long periods of time. I doubt I would be able to run farther than 1/2 mile before it starts feeling "weird".

I really do not feel like going through another winter of PT but it may be my only choice since I would like to get back into Triathlons next season too...right now, with my torn meniscus, I cannot run long distances.

    Oh decisions, decisions.

btw. I am VERY surprised at how the Kawi handles. It is very predictable and dare I say feels better than my old 600rr and R6...I just need to confirm this by riding it on the track. CANNOT WAIT!

Did you grab that ZX6R that was on craigslist for like $4200?
    That was an awesome deal.

If so, I wish I had seen that one earlier, lol. Im already set to trade in my 250 for a 07 black ZX6R (100% stock)... but didnt get as good of a deal, lol.

Yes and I got it at an even BETTER deal than advertised

There are some things that need to be changed though:

    - Lowering link (if anyone wants it for their stock setup + cash or you do the exchange on the bikes then let me know)
    - Currently wired to have both the low and high beams on.
    - Need to perform the Valve cover recall
    - Possibly put the stock rear sprocket and chain back on.
    - Put some mirrors on it when I want to take it on the streets
    - Possibly go with some new Bridgestone tires...BoMo...(most likely not until after a couple track days since the tires are brand new)

This ZX6R is crazy nice. Projector headlights are killer and it has HIDs on them already. 2Bros sounds amazing as well...honestly...I cannot believe anyone would be able to beat the deal I just got on this bike. He included some other stuff that I could sell to recoup more money.

After the ride home...I even contemplated selling my Ducati and sticking with this Kawi but then I realized I would totally miss the growl from the Duc.

btw. if you can find an all black 07 ZX6R now for a good deal and can afford to keep both bikes until Spring, I would do it. This may be the best deal I have ever had on a bike purchase. You will be able to sell your 250 for good money come Spring when everyone wants to ride.

Re: I am almost ready for the track next year...

What else do you have to sell?... seeing as I could use some stuff, lol.

My birthday is coming up in November, so Im hoping the wifey gets me a couple items that are on my must-do list, like a smoked DB windscreen and frame/bar sliders, stands and spools

I might keep the 250 if I had somewhere to store it. Right now, Ill be using up pretty much all of my remaining indoor storage for the ZX6R over the winter.

Im still getting a pretty good deal, all things considered, so Im not too bent outta shape about it. Im glad to hear you like the ZX6R, though.

I will definitely get a pic of the truck and bike tonight...though it's just phone pics.

I cannot tell you how surprised I was in the feel of the bike. It feels 10 times better than my bro's 05 ZX6R. His 05 seems like a boat to me for some reason...this 07 feels more like a 600RR imo.

Just posted some pics in my original post. As you can see...the bike really needs to get back to stock height where it should have stayed.

    Perhaps you can confirm this...

I want to get frame sliders at some point for mine...
and I dont mind cutting the fairings, but in most of the
pictures I see, the fairings dont appear to be cut.

Are your fairing cut to fit the sliders? I was just looking at the
one im buying today (doing paperwork tomorrow) and I dont
see how the sliders would fit without cutting, but as mentioned,
every picture I see it appears the fairings are not cut.

I have Shogun sliders on my 08 ZX6R. Very nice pieces and you dont need to cut the fairings. Got them here:

The shoguns are exactly what I was looking at buying.

Thanks for the clarification on that they dont require
cutting of the fairings... however I still dont know how thats
    possible.

Ill have to inspect closer tomorrow.

From my previous frame slider installs, one side will be very, very easy to install (you just screw it in), the other side will normally have a bracket and the slider. The bracket is L shaped so that it can screw in underneath the side fairing (you will have to remove the side fairing probably) and then you screw the slider to the bracket. Very easy as well.

btw. anyone know of a good auto detailer who can detail my exterior and interior? The exterior is needs a good wash and buff to get the shine back and the interior needs a good shampooing and odor removal. The previous owner has a cigarette addiction and seemed to like to smoke in the car with the windows rolled up.

Well, it will hopefully smell a little better than it does now. It feels like the old days when you go to a bar/club and you walk out with your jeans smelling like smoke.
