    Applying Decals

DISCLAIMER: I am no expert. Use this only as a guide...

This is for die-cut vinyl stickers, specifically 'www.nestreetriders.com' decals...

-Gently clean the area with rubbing alcohol

    -Carefully peel off masking sheet

    -Evenly and gently apply decal

-Once you're sure it's where you want it, apply even pressure with your fingers, being sure to work out any wrinkles

-If you need to follow a contour, you can cut the backing sheet between the letters

-Use a plastic squeegee to smooth out and secure decal. They can be purchased at just about any hardware store for short change

-Gently peel off the backing sheet, using the squeegee as a sort of guide. Be sure all letters are adhering to the surface

-Once the backing paper is off, hold it over the same decal and use the squeegee over the area again

Again, I'm no expert. This is the method I use for applying stickers & decals, and I've yet to have one come off...

If you soap the target area down and having trouble getting the decal to stick use a hair dryer or heat gun along with the squeege.

    Applying Decals

I applied Vinyl for 4 years as a job....

2 pieces of tape. 1 on each side to adjust baseline height. Use baseline of text for measurement.

2 more peices of tape in the middle (top & bottom). Peel back 1 side to middle tape. Tear 1/2 backing off (to middle tape). Spray water / soapy water. Spread squeegie from the inside of the letters up, inside letters down and continue all the way to the end. Make sure your baseline is straight. If not, soapy water will allow you to lift and re-apply.

Now, peel back other side and remove remaining backing. Basically what you've done is split the application in half by using the middle tape. So peel back use the same technique... middle of text up, middle of text down, until you reach the end. Make sure baseline is straight. Peel top transfer tape off.

    Wah-laa!

    Lata,
    Bri

PS. Let sit or use hair dryer. You shouldn't need much heat... just patience. 98% of bubbles are soapy water and will flatten itself in 2 hrs sitting in sun.

    Applying Decals

Good descrip, Brian. That's pretty much the method I use with larger decals (like on my racebike), sans the soapy water. I was pretty much giving some quick instructions for the www.nestreetriders.com decals that peeps have been gobbling up lately...

Great words of wisdom though (or lack thereof)
