Angry Fuggin Bike... Bad day no ridey....

I wanted to ride today, but had some "things" to deal with on the RC ... geeeeesh.. I lost my trunk cover going down the road yesterday, seems I lost a bolt the holds the trunk latch on... So I jerry rigged it to stay on, plus made up a leash that ties onto the sub-frame incase it ever decides to fly off again it cant go far!!! !

The lid is scratched up a little bit, but considering the speed I was going I am really surprised it was not a lot worse! This is the second time I lost the lid, the first time I was on 128 N. Flew off right after I got on the highway, noticed my jacket liner I had stuffed in the tail flopping around behind me. I pulled over and found the tail trunk cover gone!! I coasted down the brake down lane the wrong way back to the on ramp and found the lid in the brake down lane. It only had a few very small scuffs and all the hardware was intacked, so I snapped it back on and carried on! I was dam lucky nobody ran it over and crushed it to pieces!!!! Very Lucky!

Right now after my half ass repair job do to lack of parts it's barely holding in place so I wrapped my cargo net around the tail section for security till the parts are received..... Then seeing I was already into the repair mode, I tore apart the R1's ignition wiring and saudered/shrunk wrapped it all up nicely! Almost done with this baby! Woohoooo.. Only things left are Bleed the brakes, some touch up painting and figure where the shorted wire from the safety on the kickstand. I can not start the R1 unless I put the kick stand up, even with her in Nuetral??? Grrrr Small issue though...

Anyone get to ride? No wait dont tell me....

Funny you say it Mike, cause I was thinking if I really wanted to sell it, what would I really get. The two on the site are still here??? They are sweet bikes, why is it not many people want RC's?? Not squidly enough for ppl?? I really like mine despite my bad luck with a few issues.. All resolved now! Well almost.. I love this bike, the look the sound and performance.. Is it just over looked by people that do not know much about them?? It's always being gawked at when I have it out??

Fuggin Bike... Bad day no ridey....

yeah i'm suprised i don't see more RC's out there on the road... they're sick bikes... what's the deal?

all i know is that i sat on one once.... and it was pretty damn uncomfortable... def. not a commuter bike but i'd sport one on the weekends anyway if i had the experience... it's just too much bike for me right now... i even had an opportunity to ride Mark's tiller & was a little aprehensive...

    next time, Mark.... next time

Fuggin Bike... Bad day no ridey....

I did 1000 miles last weekend on the RC Beast and surprisingly my back was not too bad! It helps if you have a larger frame and greatly helps if you have long arms! I dont have to lean to far over like most would riding this bitch! Thank god!!

Imagine this though, you can be too big for a bike, like my bud at work. He is 6'6" and just bought an 04 R6 for his first bike.... No idea what he was thinking??? 1. too much power for a first bike! 2. he is wayyyyyyyyyyyyy to tall for it! His knees are crunched up to his armpits when he ride! Well almost that high!!

Having to stop for gas for you while I still have over half a tank is one reason why I'd never buy one. If we had at least gone 150 miles, sure, a stop is a good thing. But in the saddle for less than 2 hours and we need fuel? There's one reason there may be unsold RC51's around. Some people need a lot more range.

That's true with all the twins, cept them prilla's, I think they have fuel storage in the frame .... No seriously all BIG twins, have a very limited range, doesn't make em a bad bike

I wasn't saying they're bad bikes...just poor choice for longer sport-riding and touring. When you're out on some of the roads in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, fuel stations can be few and far between. And even then, you may find yourself choosing between cowpiss and Methanol at the pumps, many of which don't yet have card readers.

I also have an earned reputation for riding too long between stops, I just wanna keep going when I'm "in the groove"!

I hear that, I sometimes have gone to far between stops with the YZF, obviously not this bike! I think 100 miles between stops are ok as long as it's not a long break. But as you said Ken you do not have that option in the Northern Kingdom! Thanks for making the gas stops when you did!
Maybe next year I will have a sport tourer and be able to hang with you for the long hauls between gas breaks! That ST is looking like a possibility!

I'm going to make a tether for my rear lid too now... Thanks for the heads up

I have no idea why those 2 are still for sale, they look like GREAT bikes! I love my RC Range is perfect, by that time I do need to at least stand for a minute or two. I dont find it that uncomfy though, you feel it, but it gets to my wrists more than my rear.

    And the sound....

Yeah I owned a TLR and had the same problem selling. They are fun bikes but they are over weight and under hp. Most poeple don't even know what they are! Torque monsters are what they are, a ball to ride if you can.

Must be a twin thing in general. My SV 650 only gets about 150 or so on it's @4.5 gallons. Of course, that's after the slip-on and power commander ....

I have a fuel light on mine... no fuel selector at all. The light comes on and off for a bit then stays on steady when it's real low. I play it safe and look for fuel the minute it comes on... oh, I use the trip odometer too ... when I actually REMEMBER to reset it!
