    Aprilia Dealers?

My next new bike will be an Aprilia and I've never delt with any Ape dealers before. Does anyone have a favorite they would send a fellow NESR member to? Obviously price is a factor so they must be able to cut a deal

I'm looking for an 08 or 09 SXV 5.5 SuMo

Roadside Marine has an 09 SXV SM...and it is SICK! I've seen it...as far as deals go, unless you frequent the shop, it depends on what kinda mood Chris is in the day you go in...unless you are looking to trade, then you can haggle a bit.

    They do look sick
To far to travel If I have to wait and see what type of mood the sales person is in though. I don't mind driving to get a bike, but it'll be a done deal before I leave my house

I got my Tuono from Seacoast. Of all the bikes and dealers I've dealt with I like Seacoast the best.

I don't own an Aprilia, but I've known Jesse for years. He's good people for sure. Another vote for Seacoast

I hate to throw them under the bus but I'll tell you who NOT TO USE: Aprilia of Worcester, I had to deal with them once and the staff knows nothing about the product they are selling, especially the parts department. Absolutely clueless!!!

Mike, how do you like the bike? I know there were problems when they first came out but from what I've read, the 08s and up are pretty well sorted out.

I've seen left over 07s with the 08 updates for under 7k but I just don't trust them

I've been lurking on that site for a while. One of the members, and a SXV 5.5 owner has my old R7

+1 for Tuono's!!!!! I love mine ... Stay away from Motofit in Danbury CT. The only thing I got from them was a good deal on my bike. Other than that they are a bunch of tools when it comes to ordering parts or any type of service.....

Adding or not, you're still buying NEW.

    Re: Aprilia Dealers?

I like my 5.5, but it has not been a trouble free relationship. To be fair I have one of the first batch to enter the country, and they are definitely known to have issues. The biggest issue I have had is starting it, especially cold it is a night mare. I have killed the battery more than once trying to start it cold. It is also heavy, almost 300 lbs, compared to even a ktm. Reliability has been not great, unfortunately it is broken right now or I would offer you a test ride. The first day I rode it the sprocket that runs the oil pump came loose and I lost oil pressure on the front straight, I saw the idiot light on the dash,+1 Aprilia, and killed it immediately, and avoided damage. Seacoast fixed it. Several months later the stator came loose, this is covered by a recall, and Seacost fixed it. This past September it spun a crank bearing at the track. I would guess it has something like 1800 miles on it, 85% track riding. This is far short of the 3000 mile recommended rebuild, but I flog it and it has lost oil pressure at least once, so I don't know what that means.

It took me some time and fiddling to get the suspension set up, but I highly recommend the Sachs factory suspension kit. I was also not blown away by the stock brakes, but I am really spoiled by the great brakes on my other bikes.

The motor is great, and it is a lot of fun to ride. It is definitely different to ride than a thumper. Everyone that has ridden it has really enjoyed it. I am not sure what else to say? If you have any specific questions let me know.
