Anybody have or know any one who has had an Aprilia Futura.
I am looking for something to go two up with the wife and commute on.
Any thoughts???
Seacoast Sport Cycles had a used one last year, looked really nice, maybe the current owner is on nesr?
Also check out June 2010 CW p. 86 "Best Used Bikes" -- this month they feature the Aprilia RST 1000 Futura.

And don't believe everything you think.
Cool Thanks,
I am new to the sport tourer thing. i have always used my sportbike(s) for this task, but the zx-10r is not good for two up for any length of time
I think I saw one there yesterday.
But man, thats Fugly....
....get a Multistrada instead!!!!

It is funny you say that. I was initially looking at the multi, but pretty pricey .
The futura styling is a little 80's
Had one for a weekend of riding. Great bike, it was matte black looked like a F-117.
Yellow light, green light, heart stands still...
They've always had good reviews. Actually looked at them before buying my first Duc (ST2). After that, I never looked back. Nothing but Duc for me now.

I have the Falco, different bike, but essentially the same engine.
The Rotax engines really are quite bullet proof, and low maintenance, plenty of low end for two up riding.
The position of the Futura is comfy, although the seat comfort is polarizing in opinion. The only downsides I've heard of on the bike is the suspension. In stock form, it can be weak.
As for the looks, to each his own. Personally, I like the look of the Futura eventhough the designer only had a straight edge. For a sport tourer, get the suspension sorted and they are tough to beat.
I have heard the same on the suspension and a couple of minor charging issues, but other than that pretty solid...
Initially I was looking at the ducs hard, the st and multistrada, but the maintenance and initial cost is a little high.
Not to sound cheap, but the aprilia can be had at relatively bargain prices...and this will be the third bike, so bang for the buck is key
I love this site!!!
Thank guys
The C14 is a bohemouth compared to the Future IMO, a SPORT tourer (ST, Futura, etc.) vs. a sport TOURER (C14, FJR, etc..) Futura = reliable, twin, fun... all I know who've owned a variant (Falco / Futura / Mille) have loved them. Triumph Sprint ST perhaps another option?
And I just wanted to quote on top of the quote box again.
And the maint costs on Ducati STs are NOT that bad.
The Futura seems to suffer from the same inadequate line sizes as the Falco. Easy fix really to get the charging back up to par. Not sure if the futura has the enemic starter relay either, but again, easy fix and a big difference in the starting ability.
A lot of people don't like Aprilia because they're Aprilia. I love mine. Ever down in the area stop by and have a look at her. The v-twin growl through the Akro pipes is addicting...
I don't have first hand experience, but the maint on the ST2 nd ST3 aren't bad. Jump to the ST4 and it can be. The ST3 is supposedly the bike many search for. Good power and low(er) maint.
As mentioned the Sprint ST might be another to look into.
