I looked at a few sport tours before buying. Honda ST, Aprilia Futura, Triumph ST, Kawasaki concorse (first gen). I wanted lots of luggage, shaft drive, liquid cooled, and EFI. After much thought I went with the FJR w/ABS. I had a Bandit 1200 set up for ST but after getting the FJR I thought I died and went to heaven, I evenually sold the B12. The FJR is also good for 275 miles between fill ups with a 6.6 gallon tank (depending on how hard you hammer it). Riding with a passenger is very comfey (so i'm told). Overall I think its a great bike, not to be overlooked when thinking of a good used ST. (did I mention it also has sack) Dwayne
I have a friend with an FJR 1300. He likes the bike, but after owning it for a few years he's relegated it to strictly 2 up or LONG distance duty. It's too heavy to enjoy as a light duty or 'fun' bike in his opinion. If you're looking for distance it's a win, otherwise I'd say it only barely slots into the 'Sport Tourer' category, heavy on the Tour side of the family.
Get a chance to check out the Ape yet? Curious of what you thought?
