anyone know what the pricing is like on the shiver? when i read reviews i see 11k but on some dealer sites msrp is 8999. also anyone hear anything bad about this bike? overall reading tells me its a pretty nice bike for the price.

im going to wagner motorsports friday to check it out and talk some numbers. thats the only dealer aprilia lists on their site. any other ones i should check out?

Check out apriliaforum.com, there's a whole section on this bike.
2008 Shiver SL750 - ApriliaForum sponsored by AF1 Racing, inc.

unfortunately, at first glance, it seems that like with all 1st year production models, there's some bugs to work out.

I've been told countless times that Seacoast Cycle is the place to go for all things Aprilia.

thanks guys, ill check out seacoast too.

Pete, i was reading through some of the posts and it seems like guys were thinking that the shiver would be comparable to the tuono and were let down by the lack of power. I am trying to get rid of my rc51 and by no means can ride it to its potential, but i have not rode a tuono. not sure if youve ridden a 51 before but if you have would you say the tuono and 51 are comparable in terms of power and punch? im not too worried about the decrease in power but would like to know what kind of a machine the tuono is so i can gauge some of these posts.

I'd say the RC & the Tuono/Mille are about the same in terms of raw power. Slightly different in terms of delivery (Tuono is tuned more for mid-range than the mille & rc) but they're all in the same ballpark.

The shiver is a 750, it's got more grunt than an SV, but that's to be expected... It's not gonna be on par w/ the liter twins & shouldn't be expected do. I think that's part of the reason why people are disappointed w/ the power, cuz they were expecting for more oomph... but it's a commuter/street bike, not a superbike.

Ask for Pat, Jesse, or Jim. They are all great people to deal with. I bought my Mille' from them waaaay back in the day. They helped support my racing habbit and last year I bought my 1098 from them. You become part of the family at Seacoast.

Agreed, I bought my Tuono off Jesse last fall after debating which new bike I was going with. Key with them is they're responsive after the sale.

    Re: aprilia shiver 750

IMO, 9k ain't bad for a brand new Miniono.

but the 6k I paid for my '03 Tuono is better

By the way, you gotta be careful.... If you don't want to buy a Tuono, don't ride one

Yeah, the 2nd gen Tuono is definitely a bit of an ugly duckling.

But the 1st gen? Ohhhh mamma!

    Re: aprilia shiver 750

I've been very happy with Seacoast. I was offered a demo ride of the Shiver last Saturday, but I didn't have enough time.

I'd like to add a (small) V twin to the stable and I was thinking along the lines of 695/696 or a Shiver at the high end. Basically an SV650 but with a little more style.

Anyway, outright power isn't necessary and I head into Seacoast with those check boxes in mind. 20 minutes later and I'm on a Hypermotard grinning ear to ear and now that bike is all I think about.

I guess I'm just trying reinforce the point, don't try the Tuono

The only thing to remember...if you buy a sweet bike for commuting you have to worry about parking it during the day. You can buy a beater - insurance is cheap and no one is going to f with it.

One reason of few that I don't leave my job: I get to park in the #1 parking garage in Boston for only 75 bucks a month (vs $425!!!)

FYI, Aprilia MAY be bringing a Hypermotard killer to the states within the next year or so.

Just go out and buy the Tuono. The bike rocks has the comfort of a standard the handling of a top sport bike and the power is as good as a 999 or Rc51. The Rotax motor is stout. The Shiver is not in the same sphere.
