Beaware of Amsoil

Placed my order via their site, now they wanna charge me $8.14 cents in some surcharges!

I called them up, and this lady tells me that they are registered in every state to collect taxes and I have to pay some other petro fees!!!

Then she tells me its all discolsed on page 16 of some price list. I told her I orderd online and it was NEVER stated that I will be getting charged for this bullshit!!!

She said everyone gets charged and its the norm


I ordered from them twice before and while I never got charged these bullshit fee's I did get scammed out of $3 dollars per order. When you order they tell you that due to price changes, they might add some more to your order before it gets shipped. Well my order was $30 even. I get a bill for $32.97 (for those who aren't that good at math, they added $2.97 which is like 9.9% of my total order..... .1% more (3 cents) and they would have had to told me about it.....

This is my last order with Amsoil. I told the rep that I will be posting my complaints on various moto sites, and she didn't really care. So before you order know what you're getting involved with. It looks like its back to Spectro for me....supporting my local economy (they are in Brookfield, CT).

Mobil 1 15W 50 (red cap) is my favorite bike oil. You can get 5 quarts of it for $18.88 at Wal Mart. It is superior to Spectro according to a test I read somewhere. Can't recall how it ranked compared to Amsoil but I suspect it was equal or better.

I ran Spectro in my 9R until it was out of warranty (JASO-MA requirement). I can tell when an oil is getting worn by the notchiness of the shifting. Spectro was quite notchy after 3500 miles and needed changing. I have almost 7000 miles on the Mobil 1 in my 9R right now and it shifts better than Spectro did when it was new...

BTW, I'm a firm non-believer in the "3000 mile oil change rule". Waste of money in my opinion unless the oil is shot (or crap to begin with).
