Don't expect, just go there expecting to have a good time. I thought it was very enjoyable, albeit a good amount of work. Nothing that is unmanageable though.

Yeah, we had a couple of drop-outs as well, but of the ones that passed, most of them are still at it. Jack did a pretty good job w/ us.

For set-up: It's pretty much a normal classroom type setting.
For work-load: Depends on who's instructing the class, but there's a fair amount of homework and studying to be done. Nothing too crazy, but it also wasn't a cake walk. You can't just show up, sit through the classes & expect to get your certificate, you gotta put a fair amount of effort into it.

    Lotta fun though!

I've heard that pretty much every class has a dropout or two. I'm not expecting it to be a cakewalk by any means. I was just wondering if I was going to be doing a bunch of written tests with essay questions and stuff like that.

We had terrible conditions. Imagine riding the figure eight box on a bike that will not run without the engine racing from the choke full on a a "wintery mix". Insane. Our training ran from Feb-March IIRC.

Jack (the lead Rider Coach Trainer) seems like a huge pain in the ass a times but it's just a front, some people need to seem tough.

Here's a tip. If you're going to have to ride in very crappy precipitation conditions bring every piece of foul weather gear you own and borrow more, bring two changes of everything and three changes of socks. Pretty much, during coach training nothing stops the riding and you ride until all the requirements are met. Nobody goes home early because it's 41 degrees and raining slush, be prepared.

Training chews up weekend after weekend and is pretty brutal, I was surprised that more didn't drop out, but it's a good proving ground and in many ways if you cannot stand the cold and rain which at least you can dress for how are you going to manage 20 hours on the blacktop when the ambient is 100 degrees and the temp of the tarmac is 140. I've almost out AL foil on the tops of my boots in an attempt to reflect the heat.

I didn't realize that we would be riding on the class all that much. I thought it was almost all classroom stuff.

When I range aided this year, I experienced 37 degree temps, 90 degree temps, and rain. I think there was only one day that it was comfortable out.

Oh, there's a fair amount of actual riding as well. Lotta range work, both on and off the bikes.

    I Jack!

Oh, and other than your pre-course questions and the written test, there is no book work in the form of questions or essays, but there is a book that you will learn inside and out.

I'm finding the answers pretty quickly. So far, the only one that I can find is the one about when to show the students the hand signals.

    Can't find?

I show them all the hand signals before we leave the classroom and a then do a quick refresher before the first range exercise.

Look through the last of the day 1 classroom objectives. I think it's somewhere in there?

Knowing hand signals is also part of the range rules, is it not? Gotta go through those again before you go riding as well.

Thats where i remember it being from when I took my class and then again on the range before we got on as a refresher. I'm going to have to read that section again.
Every other question, I'm finding in the book in a matter of minutes. This one for some reason, is doing a good job of hiding from me.

There are three answers for that one...

Unit III of RCG - page 41 #17, page 42, #51 and before the particular exercise where you will use each new signal

That's it, I'm telling Joe you all are cheating! btw, thanks for reminding me to start doing my questions.

Is anyone working on the course layout yet? Want to confirm that we should be drawing every exercise on one piece of paper.

It is not cheating if I did not tell him specifically where until after he said he found it. I just helped him confirm that he found the right answer
