    Next bike - 05/06 636 or Gixxah 7-fiddy discuss

So I have my next bike in mind and am debating these two. I'm not so concerned about the power as both have plenty but suspension/handling wise which do you choose?

gonna be used primarily on the street but I plan on some TD's next season. I just don't want to put $1500 into the SV to get the suspension up to par.

750 then... but the suspension is going to be far from a $1500 SV suspension.

If you're already a Suzuki guy, stick with what ya know.

I've owned 2 gixxer 750's and both were great bikes. One was a 94 (old school) and the second was an 01. I had no problems with either...the 01 was obviously a big step up from the 94...and I'm sure an 08 left over or 09 would be a big step from the 01. Plenty of power, and they'll run with older 1000's and eat 900's. basically it comes down to what you like though...think of it as a 600 with an extra 10-15 horse, maybe a little more nowadays.

As for wavey rotors stock, ask yourself a simple question. Does brembo and other high end braking companies make wave rotors? Think about it.

while i like the the 600rr I would only consider the current gen so 07/08 and I don't really want to spend that much. Both of these bikes are reasonable for the 06 year.

also...in talking to people with a few people who have the 636 they said that they wished the suspension was better. While I am hesitant to be lumped into the Gixxah category it does seem to have the whole package

You can't go wrong with either, but the gixxer has about 40 more HP.

I owned an 05 636 with full track setup suspension and now I have a stock 08 gsxr750. I like the power delivery on the gixxer, but the 636 is a rocketship and probably is slightly easier to ride really fast on the track, especially at Loudon.

40? Where the hell do you buy yours from? Or, what do you do to it? I saw a dyno chart on a 600RR last weekend and it pulled 108. +40...that's 12 hp less than my 1000. Damn I bought the wrong bike

stock on the 750 is going to be in the 120-130 range from what I remember.

If you've got a stock 750 making 140+...damn. hang onto that one

Sorry, should have qualified that. Suzuki CLAIMED hp for the 08 750 is 147. I know very well that will translate to MAYBE 130.

well ya never know. The first few bikes off the line are much better than what the majority of us end up with. I know when the 07 1000 came out, some guys in england literally uncrated it and put it on the dyno... 174hp.

    most of them are 160-165

    636

Not that I am biased since Pittenger and I both have lovely 04 GREEN ones for sale...but I think the 03-04 are one of the best looking bikes and nicer looking than the 05-06 (more aggressive looking)...though the undertail exhaust on the 05-06 is cool like db said.

Re: Next bike - 05/06 636 or Gixxah 7-fiddy discuss

Dyno charts of the new 750 actaully show it being down on power from the 06/07's but everything I have read says it feels just as strong and has even better mid-range. They dyno doesn't take into account the ram-air effect and the new bike doesn't have the intake screens like the old bikes do. The intakes are also moved closer together to where the air pressure hitting the front of the bike is greater, forcing even more air in. As real world proof one of the mags put an '07 against an '08 in 60-80 and 80-100mph roll-ons and the new bike was at least a second quicker in each as I recall.

The '06/'07s are still a great bike and I'm really glad I went with the 750.
