Listin was still there when I clicked on the link.

But shit...I'm a rider, not a collector. I hope some fucking museum buys it. Otherwise, I could care less.

    Exactly.

He'll never get 18k for it....8 year old technology and a shitty economy will make sure of that..

I spent the better half of 2 months looking for my used 999 and it seems most Ducati owners haven't realized their bikes aren't worth half of what they think....the market decides the price not the owners....unfortunetly

Well he has a bid...but his reserve is "north of that" price.

Sad but true about the 9** series, thanks to the 1098. A Friend bought an 01 996 for 12,500. Right before the 1098 came out. Less than a year later he sold it for 8k.

I suppose he could get that kinda coin for it, if someone had disposable income. And not much for brains

Thats the shitty part of owning an expensive "exotic" bike', when the economy goes south the first thing people give up is their "play" money, and they start tightening their belts. You should take a look at MVaugusta.net....the people trying to sell bikes on that site are taking a beating on them. I almost bought one but went with the 999 instead (i'm addicted to that exhaust note). This is definetly a buyers market for high end sport bikes..

It will be purchased by a collector who values the condition and very, apparently, limited production. You can't assess a bike like that based on whether we would buy one to ride or not given the options available. Really, it's not about that....

Be a LOOOOOOONG time before that bike accrues any value. mainly because every 3rd bike Ducati sells is a parts bin "special"
Now, if it were an SPS, different story.

Re: Interesting Ducati on Ebay (in NH)

The economy wasn't like it is now, when he sold it. The 1098 being released is what sent the values of the 9**'s to the ground, I thought.

    Collector, bah. I'd ride it.
Use to know a guy with an 888 SPS. He rode it every time he rode a bike. This was no typical 888, it was 1 of X (I forget the number, maybe only 5). It and the others were intended for Ferracci. Well one 888 didn't make it to Ferracci.

Ok, send him an email and ask

I'm sure he has his buddies watching, who all know the reserve.

    Wow!!!! I'm amazed.

It's a rare bike, but it's not one of those super collectibles like an SPS or an SP5 851 or something.

Yeah, it's race only, but those cheesy inserts where the headlights used to be mean it's a modified stock bike tarted up with CF and such. Just not uber 'special'.

    derek

My thoughts exactly. Looks like a street bike dressed up as a race bike. Sticking feathers up your butt doesn't make you a chicken.
