    Lowered front end

I lowered my front end before on my R6 now I did it with my R1 I went over board I might add I was looking for some info 1 person on the R1 board said I lowered to much and the front's going to tuck on me someday any racers want to chime in? I went 40 mm to the recommended 10mm-20mm I'm going to raise the back end to comply with the front. Does anyone have any experience with this?
I just got Pilots in the mail and a 180 in the rear I want this fucker to turn in fast!
Here is a picture to get an Idea of the forks. I have ridden it this way and even with a nice wheelie the never came close to bottoming out.

Make sure the bike doesn't lean over too much on the sidestand after you lower the triples and raise the rear. Some people have to weld an extension to the sidestand after doing those kind of adjustments.

Yeah, it depends on the bike. My Rc51 sits way over left after lowering the front end. Maybe you need to cut a bit out of the stand, or change the rear tire to a 180?

How the hell do these people ride the bikes that low and not have them deck out? The R1 has shit for ground clearance as it is. Or, maybe I'm just getting too fat. Why not get an adjustable shock to alter ride height, and maybe some aftermaket triple clamps if you want to alter the steering geometry? Also, the larger cross section of some 180s, i.e., 207GP, raise the rear anyway.

I dunno Chris, but I can attest to the riding skills of Chip's friends, Ray? & Mary? if I remember correctly, they could ride better than anybody I have ever ridden with around here

I dropped the GSXR 8mm - it took about a week to get used to but was definately worth it.

How much "in mm" would the 180 tire raise my rear end? 1mm? 2mm? .25mm?

    Simple math (i tinks!)
If you had a 160/60.. that would be a sidewall height of 160*.6 = 96 mm
if you jump to a 180/55 that would be a sidewall height of 180*.55 = 99 mm,

3 mm height difference? (i might be missing a factor of 2)
Of course that varies depending on what the former tire was that you are changin from.

<--- am i allowed to do that as a newbie to this whole thing?!
    oh well

    Hey Brent

Also, I think you missed the formula for heat differential. When a 180/55 heats up it expands, creating an overall depth increase of .98999 mm over the tangent line of the ratio to mass vs. friction 1.22*9/3.34<C+E=MC2.

    Get it right!

hmmmm, 3.9 mm and not 3 mm? ok
I am not a mech eng, i have no idea what a heat differential has to do with ride height? I do know the height difference from the 180 i put on my bike did not make a noticeable difference in ride height when i sit my big butt on it.
The things i do know about are the little green guys that run through wires and make lights bright and stuff.

190 is pretty masive... So you are going to a narrower tire?
I am confused, i thought wider was better for tighter turning?
If you can't tell i am pretty new to aggressive riding on the street. Please, edificate me?! :o

This is nothing like riding that moped when i was growing up.

a 180 tire will usually allow the bike to turn in quicker than a 190.
