    first wash/wax (edit: more pictures!)

washed/waxed the bike for the first time yesterday. I think I did an ok job, nothing spectacular. I haven't had time to go out and buy supplies yes, so I had to make do with what I could find around me and my friends houses. I used Turtle Wax car wash from my friends house, some at least 10 year old liquid turtle wax from my garage, and I went out and bought some microfiber cloths from walgreens for $3.29. Here's pictures I took today since I did the actual washing at my friends house and didn't have my camera there. It's managed to get a little pollen-y since, god damnit.

If you look down, you go down. That may be fun at an orgy, but it sucks on a bike

doesn't that scratch the paint, especially with all the shit in the air? I had a layer of pollen about a quarter of an inch thick on my bike before the wash, and that was from just a few days

Looks good, but you need to get some polish on that pipe coming out of the heads.

Yes it does scratch the paint, most are micro scratches but it only takes 1 peice of sand/dirt to make a bunch of scratches before you even realize it
Don't be afraid to wash your bike with soap and water, I usually try to wash mine before a ride so all the water will dry quick..but I wouldn't lose any sleep over washing it and putting it away. It's a motor vehicle designed to be used in wet and dry conditions

its all about the shammy after a wash to get the water spots out, followed by a waxing.

Call me anal but I don't like them either.
The method I use to dry my bike after a wash is a electric leaf blower The less you touch the paint, the longer it will look new

Keep in mind it ain't called Honda polish anymore. It's still made, just under a different guise.

Yeah - that was like looking at a smokin hot chick...you hit the pinky and the index simultaneously with one lick, bringem on up to smooth out the brows...& then...without warning...she cracks a smile only to reveal a mouthful of busted up teeth.

Get on that dawg!! Looks pretty sweet!

I use maguires liquid cleaner/wax and put it on every other or every third wash. I also try to hand glaze it once or twice a season, I use the maguires glaze as well.

    Bike looks nice and clean

As far as brands... you want Zaino cleaning products. There is absolutely no substitute.

Also, most people just use a cleaner wax and then stop. That's not what you want to do... a cleaner wax is your most abrasive step of detailing, and when you're done the paint is essentially 'naked'.

After that then you want to do a polish, and a top wax (like a yellow / carnuba wax). This isn't just about bling, fellas, it's about protecting your paint (maintaining said bling).

clarify... what would be a cleaner wax, and what would be a top wax?

    Re: first wash/wax

    Bike looks awesome bro!

As far as wax goes...Zymol is the best cleaner wax out there, in that it cleans and protects, but its best to apply another coat of a protectant as well.
Like Cheese stated you can get the Mothers 3 Step which is a cleaner, polish and seal, but thats an all morning or afternoon thing.
I use S100 to wash (2 coats for heavy bugs) wipe with a regular towel then I Zymol first, and Turtle Wax ICE for the polish and protect. BLING!
