    Bike choices

I own a Speed triple and Kev on here has a Street triple, a buddy of mine checked out the bikes and likes the seating position (instead of raked over).

He doesn't want to go 1200 cc's for BMW, which bikes should I tell him to check out. He is 6'2" 240, he is going to take the MSF course as he hasn't ridden for a good 20 years (or more) so I don't want to get him on something ridiculously fast (though what bike isn't)

any suggestions from people who have ridden them all?

    thanks in advance
    CB

ok, the FZ series are the other ones that are stand-upish. I will pass along, don't want to make him a mechanic and recommend a monster...

How about those other bikes, like the Versys, V-strom, etc, has anyone been on a bunch of different bikes and tell me what they think, even if you didn't like a bike cause it was slow, didn't handle good, etc, just trying to get him up to speed.

I don't know that it would be big enough... I ride a Ninja 650R. The seating position is fairly upright, very similar to an FZ. I ride 2-up a lot... so figure about 300lbs on the bike. Its got plenty of power, even with the extra weight.

That FZ is a great deal!

From experience. From cruisers and standards to "sportsbikes" after 18 years I went with the Kawi 650R.
Enough power for most riding (unless you like to go 125+ on the highway) And plenty of fun.
One of the best bikes and close to the funnest bike I have ever owned.

I love my bike. I thought I'd outgrow it, but thus far, its perfect for me. Plenty of passing power on the highway and off the line, but not enough to get you in trouble or cause any inadvertant wheelies.

    Re: Bike choices

Thanks everyone for the input, I am going to have to get him on a motorcycle cause he is thinking about buying a 2 wheeled couch. (honda sabre or one of those contraptions)

there is a guy here with a john deere bike that works at a dealership, anyone know what lines of bikes he carries?? (buddy lives in springfield and would make trek to ct dealer) I would like for him to see that it is easier to drive an FZ, or triumph slow than it is to get one of those things to do anything fun.
