    Does this bike exist?

After logging around 3000 miles on my FZ1, I'm starting to realize that I miss my DR650 supermoto. The FZ1 is an incredible bike, silly powerful, and so so smooth, but it's just not as fun (for me) as the (sorta) supermoto was.

The things I loved about the DR:
    - The bike was high up
    - The seat was long and nearly flat. I loved being able to sit in different areas of the seat depending on what I was doing
    - Long suspension
    - Very neutral riding position with the pegs slightly forward of center
    - Lightish

The reason I sold the DR was because the motor (mainly the carb's fault) wasn't that smooth, and it wasn't that great on highway stints. It was a thumper, I know.

So, is there a bike out there that has the things I loved about the DR, but is powered by a smoother motor (2,3,4 cylinders, I don't care).

    Thanks gang!

The fueling on the Hyper was a bit too grumpy around town (traffic) for me. If it had a liquid clutch I'd consider it.

The Multi is very appealing, but the price of the new one is really high, and the old one is fairly hideous. It will be a while before used, current gen Hypers are affordable.

That is also on my short list. I'd have to try one before committing though.

6500 for a hyper is reasonable.

If I end up moving to NZ I think I'll be looking for the same bike, whatever it is... Are the BMW GSs' too pricey? I haven't ridden one yet, but hope to soon...

The F800 is really the only BMW that appeals to me right now. The other GS' are so big.

That has been my uneducated opinion as well... Though, I have wondered if they feel smaller riding...?

I'm sure the weight disappears under motion. They must be good bikes. If they weren't they wouldn't be so damn popular. I've sat on some of the bigger ones and they are gargantuan.

Aprilia has a few tempting bikes, but again they are pricey like the Ducati. And I know more than a few people who have had odd issues with their late model Aprillias.

I have only sat on them as well. Coming from my 675 and other slim bikes, they feel like elephants in the showroom. One of these days I would like to see what they feel like moving...

Have you looked at KTM? I have only second hand (but very positive) experience with the Super Duke...

Am I just infected with new owner's pride, or are you describing the DL650 V-Strom.

Up high, long-ish suspension, neutral/upright. Kinda falls down on the seat and "lightish" fronts. But the 90-degree twin is pretty smooth. And the weight is pretty manageable, until you stall it at a stop and it gets away from you.

I passed on the parallel twins like the Kawasakis because many claimed they weren't quite as smooth as the V's. Never had the budget for the European metal. But the Kawi Versys probably deserves mention here too. Didn't you have one of those for a while?

The "wee" 'strom won't win any speed contests, but then I'm past the age where I give a damn. I can tell you that it'll get over pretty far on the street, even on the stock tires.

Easy maint, smooth motor, 100+ top speed with smooth easy crusin at 75-80. I've got a Corbin seat and a small screen on mine, both defintely help.

actually I wouldnt mind that at all... Cali is all wide open roads and highway to get to the twisties. If we could work something out I would definitely be interested.

two problems i see are the hyper is in cali (you pay shipping id be willing to do an even trade) and the title is held by the bank (but i think i could get that taken care of within the next month or so)

Give me a call tomorrow if this is something you would seriously consider.

Although some may disagree, My buell XB12Ss fits your original description. I ride it like a grown up supermoto, though the engine is completely different than any SM bike.

I rode an STT and really enjoyed it. It's a shame you can't find one that easily these days. And parts will likely get harder and harder to track down. I've always adored the Buell XB. Love how they look.
