    Bike Lift

So I searched without much luck.... but the neighbor and I are in the market for a bike lift to place my garage. I was curious what experiences you folks had if any with them. Likes? Dislikes? Brands you'd recommend? Unfortunately it's going to need to be a fairly sizeable one as he has a VTX 1800. I can't argue much though since he's willing to pay half.

    Thanks,
    Fitz

Looks like a pretty solid lift. I'll check it out.

    Thanks,

    Poor man's bike lift:

    http://www.nestreetriders.com/forum/...otertrash.html

You just need two sheets of high quality plywood, a ramp (2" x 10" works) and a set of bike stands.
    Folds flat for storage.

May not be appropriate for the VTX1800, but others may find it useful.

    Re: Bike Lift

These things are incredible. Impossible to tip over.

At first, it bugged me that they took 3 to 4 minutes to set the bike in but the stability and access gained, it does not matter. The engineer that designed these things should of earned an award.

The Rokon models that Randy has access to has all the mounts except for the V-Twin mount so you can use it for 4-wheelers, lawnmowers ... whatever.

Just that makes it one heck of a deal.

I did purchase the extra mounts for the V-twin from their US dealer who now is operating under this web site ... Bike Lift| Bike Lifts from On-Bike.com

The darn things are made of steel and are very expensive to ship.
Remember that the Rokon ones have all the mounts and that makes it one heck of a deal. Especially if you can drive up there and pick it up.

Does the front wheel chock come off so a stand could be used? (remove forks)

    Re: Bike Lift

The front chock is held on with about 10 bolts, but yes. it easily comes off.

You actually have to install it when you get the lift.

    Re: Bike Lift

I like tbe Handy Industries lift. The B.O.B. is a very heavy, solid product. Simple & well built. Seems to be used in most every motorcycle shop I've seen.

This one has some neat features and may be worth looking into.

As far as a table lift goes: Large capacity, side extensions and a good wheel vise are key. Wheel drop out is nice, but I don't find I really *need* it. Tie down points are a must, but usually pretty easy to add more w/ eye-bolts. Get an air or elec/hydo model if you can afford to. Foot pump is a pain in the ass. One negative w/ the table lifts is the amount of space they take up. Something like the Easy Rider will not eat up a parking spot. The other negative I have w/ the table lift is that you have to remove the vise to do any front-end work; and you can't turn the bars while its in the vise (if you need clearance to access a bolt or something).

    Re: Bike Lift

come to think of it, this is all I need. It folds up, can be brought to the track and I don't really need hydraulics. anyone ever try one?
