Yeah, good point they do look gold in that picture. I spotted this on craigslist and thought it might be related:

gold forks, stolen out of my driveway...haven't heard anything from the police and yea, that clip made me smile.
I've been scanning craigslist/ebay for recent listings and havent come across anything. I'm going to a known
"hot-spot" for bikes tonite to do some surviellance.

Was it locked in your driveway, chained to something sturdy as least? My neighbor across the street's CBR1000 was just rolled away during the night. He didn't lock it to anything or cover it. The police have watched me uncover my bikes a few times. They probably think it was someone in the area. I think it was a crime of opportunity. Do I take the covered bike in clear view locked to the iron fence or the unlocked, uncovered bike hidden by a car? (I've seen my neighbor watching my girlfriend leave on my 6R for a quick ride around the block). Should have locked up his bike.

PM me details as i live here in Lawrence. I bought 2 locks at sears, looks like a disc lock(U style) very strong and atleast would give someone a hard time and cannot roll..kryptonite sells a similar one...but double..no scratches too as they are coated in rubber..I will get a pic up....I park mine up against my deck and back my truck up against it.

Hey I'm just saying he's lives next to lawrence so chances are good. Funny u say that though bout Burlington. Ive known 4 ppl with cars stolen from Burlington mall and MVP sports when it was there... All ended up in Lawrence, jus saying. That's why insurance in btown is higher than like a Wilmington or surrounding time because of the mall and quick access to 93/95/3

I've only ever had one car stolen: in Andover very likely by a kid from Merrimack College.

A kid did try to steal my WRX in Southie, but failed.

So it wasn't locked to anything? All you have to do is put it in neutral and pull it away. Disc brake locks are easily beaten too. Two or three guys can just lift a sportbike up and walk away with it. Years ago my landlord had one wheel stolen off of his car at night during the summer with all of the windows in the house open. Woke up to a missing wheel and tire and the car on a plastic milk crate! I'm installing lights, cameras, additonal chains and locks, etc. at my house soon.

Add a baby moniter and a crossbow with a large lawn size trashbag to the equipment list.

    Re: Bike Stolen Last Night

Not sure if anyone else uses these, but in addition to lock and chain I have two Dowco "Cover Alarms." About $20, it's an electronic box with a lanyard and clip. Pull the lanyard and clip out of the box and it emits a loud alarm signal.

Right now I'm just using standard proof coil chain. I'd like to find some of the hardened, cut-resistant chain locally as it is probably expensive to ship.

Does cable hold up well to theft attempts? I have a swaging tool and use coated cable to make cables to hold gear.

    Well, 'tis the season, apparently.

Got up this morning to find the cover removed from the SV. I didn't have the alarm set. Now, it was mighty windy last night, but I don't think the cover removed itself: might have been "cased." So to the back yard it goes.
