Re: bike transport to state inspection: help/suggestions

didn't pass. insurance company didn't give me the proper paperwork; they only gave me the second appraisal... and he wouldn't accept my paypal receipts, which I kind of expected. he was decent about it though, no extra harassment. So really I just have to do something about the few things I bought from individuals. Thinking maybe buy them online, get the receipt, then cancel... But first I'm going to try contacting the companies directly and just explaining my situation, see if they'll help me out and send me faux receipts.

Almost couldn't get the bike back on the truck since it started raining and the ramp was too slippery. thank god one of the guys in the yard came over and helped push/stabilize it.

So my main question now is whether or not I'll have to bring the bike back. He had no problems with it, but I'm kind of assuming they want everything again. I'll call and find out.

Thank you all for the input. This setback was expected and hasn't deterred me. Hopefully in the next 2 weeks I'll be good.

That sucks..they wont take alot of Ebay slips too because they can't confirm where the seller got the parts.

haha I wish! sadly the transmission for my car took/is taking way more money than I had planned on, so that pretty much killed my hopes of making it to the track this year. But, it's not over yet. I bought a suit just in case

Gonna start tracking down the rest of the paper work tomorrow, we'll see what happens.

Anyone know if they ever contact the companies on the receipts you give them? Do they even keep copies?

Re: bike transport to state inspection: help/suggestions

PASSED! here is my short story I posted on facebook, just for those that will asked how I pulled off not bringing the bike in again. I am pretty sure that if me being from the Virgin Islands hadn't been brought up, I would've been towing the bike down there again this Friday.

another reason it's great to be from the VI:

Upon first failing my motorcycle salvage inspection, I was told I would have to bring the bike and proper paperwork back. I decided to go in today just to have the trooper verify that my paperwork was correct, and see if there was any way I could talk him into not making bring the bike in. While he's looking through my paperwork, I happen to flip to the cover of an old Powerboat magazine... and there's Maho Bay. I mention that that's my home, and all of sudden the hardass trooper wants to know everything about the islands; having been there many years ago.

He didn't ask me anything about the paperwork, and I didn't realize that the whole time we were talking, he was filling out the paperwork for my inspection.

Re: bike transport to state inspection: help/suggestions

Well it wasn't a very complicated series of events. I already owned the bike and it was already registered in MA. I just had to show that everything on the original estimate (and supplementals) was fixed, and provide work orders and receipts for all the parts. I had a work order for the tank being fixed, and wrote my own for everything else; whether it was a part replaced, installed, painted, etc.

i had to perform a little trickery with the receipts, but it was something anyone could do.
