What did you do to your bike today V1(?)

Scrolled through but couldn't find an active thread for this sort of thing so if there is please feel free to merge this one.

Today I got my 98 GSXR750 SRAD going after a year and a half of storage. Had to pull the out ignition (fuck doing that ever again) and take it to the locksmith to have him cut a key because someone stole it when it was in front of my parents house. Got it all back together with a fresh battery and over a year old gas and she fired right up! Held an idle dead at 1,200RPM so I threw a plate on her and tooled around town.

First time I've been on 2 wheels since I wrecked my 94 900RR and sent my wrist to shambles at the end of 2015 and man did it feel good!

Tomorrow I'm going to try to bring my other 98 GSXR750 SRAD with Marchesini wheels back from the dead and my 85 VF1000R.

Well, I haven't done anything YET to the bikes today, but I did wake my KTM from it's slumber yesterday. Mistake got the rear sag set in prep for a possible spring swap. Today I'm dragging Mistake to MX207.

Last time I tried to get the VF running I put some gas in the tank. Today it cranked over a few times then wouldn't crank anymore. Tank is empty!

Gas is getting by the float needles and hydrolocking it so I ordered 4 carb kits. Can't wait to pull them off - not. I forgot how cramped Honda V4 are.

You guys honestly don't want to know. I was doing my steering head bearings and somehow managed to hammer in a race backwards. I tried to dremel a slit to punch it back out but ended up cutting my finger and in a fit of fury said fuck it and straight chop-shopped a perfectly good bike for no real reason. I am parting the entire thing out now.

All because of a botched steering head bearings replacement.

(On a more serious note, I've been thinking about parting it out for a while now since I got it for so cheap and the parts themselves are worth more than what someone would pay for the bike as a whole. Did you guys know that GSXR 1000 engines sell for like $1600+ on ebay? WTF)

Re: What did you do to your bike today V1(?)

Last night i started pulling the top end to the nsr for a new piston. Looks like i may need a rebore but i didnt have time to really examine it.
Today im pulling the tank off my gsxr 400 and checking out the cooling system and try to track down why it stinks of gas so badly. Hopefully the gas smell is just a leaky petcock and the cooling system just need a cap. I can it boiling when i shut down the bike so it may not be pressurized properly.

I needed to spend some time with the GS850 yeasterday. Put in a new AGM battery from Batteries + and it turns over great now. Fires up within 2 second now. I didn't realize how bad the other was until now. Changed the oil and filter. Also changed the secondary and final drive gear oil. Took it for a quick ride just to work out the cobwebs. I love this old bike.

Went out on the Wee. Bought diapers and beer yeast. That bike can hold 144 diapers easily in the Caribou Cases.

We should ride Clough when I'm back from Deals before my sticker expires. My 200 is ready to go slow and fall down a lot.

Wait, WHAT?! Dude, I have a tool for that purpose, even if you get the bearing in upside down it'd have popped with a few tappy tap taps.

Performed my first screw-ectomy yesterday. Plugged the rear tire on my Super Adventure with a sticky rope, then used my portable compressor for the first time. It was super easy and everything worked perfectly. Hoping to get 1000 more miles out of this tire before swapping for a TKC70 rear and Karoo 3 front.

Took the CRF250L today. Didn't do shit to it because it's an EFI Honda. A little extra lean and throttle everywhere due to Vanson pants superhero syndrome. Friendly banter with a cute young lady on a Ducati while stuck at a light in Cambridge. Daydreamed about a Husky 701 while put-putting through Waltham.

3 fucking hours later and they're out. Almost chucked them across the street. They were so married that it split three intake boots on removal. That's enough today I'll rebuild them next week.

Re: What did you do to your bike today V1(?)

Finally threw a Vortex -1/+2 sprocket & 520 chain on the GSX-R a few days ago, and swapped the rear with a spare wheel that had a 2CT mounted. New PP3's coming this week. Mucking with suspension settings on the GSXR too, can't wait to get all new meat on there.. it's feeling pretty unstable at high speed with serious cupping on the front.

Got the DR undressed and ready to start my valve cover hack job.. couple weeks of screwed up orders and finally have a fresh set of bolts/pins and helicoil kit to try my hand at a sketchy top end helicoil. Been hitting a few trails up but have had constant leaking from the valve cover, so hopefully one of the final issues to sort on the DR before I can spend some serious time in the woods. I've redone the gasket on the valve cover three times now it's driving me bonkers. You can tell by the obscene amount of gasket maker I was at my wit's end last time lol

Yeah that was my last ditch attempt, lol Although a friend who works at Suzuki said they see a lot of new bikes with just as much on there...

Carb is a Mikuni TM33 pumper, flatsides were on the S model I believe

This. Throttle control is direct to the diaphragm instead of conventional carbs where you open the throttle plate and the diaphragm reacts accordingly.

They do have a sweet rattle. Cant be ham fisted on the street though
