Re: The Best bikes on Craigslist
Sprint RS -- a good one would be good, I think. This one might be good at half the asking price, and with a little more work, but mostly I love the seller's write-up --

Have you guys ridden the Pan America? I rode one at Dirtdaze and wasn’t exactly blown away. A lot of guys ridding them there were talking about trading them in for something else. Just anecdotal, but…
I think Harley got all the rave reviews largely because people were expecting the bike to suck, and they were rightly praised for making a good bike. But I don’t think it deserved the bike of the year or ADV of the year wins it got.
I agree. I rode one at DirtDaze as well and was not impressed at all. I would rather get a proven Tenere 1200ES used since they have not changed since 2014 and are proven reliable. I rented one with my wife in California for 5 days and liked it. It also is no R1250GS - I think BMW has made the best ADV bike and it is not surprisingly. I came back from 8 days on the 1250gs and was blown away at how good it is. I hope HD marketing and buyer base will keep the Pan America alive so it can be fine tuned.
Re: The Best bikes on Craigslist
I wonder how many Pan Am riders that are bored after a year have setup a custom ride mode with the throttle response uncorked?

Didn’t someone h, oh Spooler! Isn’t this like half the price you’d spend on a Speed Triple?
I forget what the OG is, Monster or S3?

You’re right, my bad.
I skimmed over it being a Special, it’s been a while since I looked at them and thought the black was base only.

They all look so alike though. And those beaks! The pan america looks like Robocop. If only there was a legit adventure bike that went against the mold…. I dunno, maybe like British retro or something? Little bling, gold forks and chain for kids? But rider modes and cruise control and heated grip (capable) for the old guys? THAT would really cook!!
Re: The Best bikes on Craigslist
I've always thought the crf300 Rallye was just about the perfect adv bike. Drop an exhaust on it and a quick tune and it's hard to argue with. Will it do 100mph? No, but nothing should really do that anyway.

Oh non running? That’s what I get for skimming! I thought that seemed cheap!

Ad says it turns over but needs a lot of refreshing due to sitting for a few years.
