I had one of those. If I lived in a flatter area it might have been cool. With all the hills here it sucked. Eventually blew it up and had to push it home in full gear.

You could have bought an S1000RR and $20k worth of lessons.
I genuinely do feel for the guy, though. It's never fun to add up all the receipts and then compare what the market thinks it's worth :(
Re: The Best bikes on Craigslist
That's a very nice build with some choice parts.
But 40k wow

This is the "never tell me the odds" of expense/resale ratios, and I hope our protagonist enjoyed the journey.
Re: The Best bikes on Craigslist
Oh man. That's wild.
And here I felt kinda bad for dropping $103 on chinese rearsets for my low-buck CBR929 track mule.
Re: The Best bikes on Craigslist
At the end of the day, it's still an 02 gixxer. Despite it being a track weapon capable of anything a brand new bike is with the same rider, that bike is not worth more than about $7k at the most in today's market. He is better off parting it.

This. This is the thing we're not supposed to be doing.
Re: The Best bikes on Craigslist
How else would I know that I sold a $5,503.48 SV for $1200... to a guy who eventually gave it away for nothing!

Re: The Best bikes on Craigslist
Remember my pitbikes? Yeah... I did the math...

Over the course of developing both bikes, I apparently could have had a very well set up out of date GSXR instead...

Re: The Best bikes on Craigslist
I would be pretty into a non-ironic 'best bikes of Craigslist' thread, but maybe this is both threads? Shroedinger's irony?

If anyone has opened the box, what did you find? Bikes to laugh at or genuine good values?
