I spoke to the seller a little while back about that bike. He does an AMAZING job of detailing some of the 80s and 90s bikes he sells. Everything is cherry. interestingly, he told me that this bike came to him like this. It is a true cherry bike. i agree that 6k is a little strong, but this is the bike the NR750 was modeled on and they are becoming collectors bikes for sure. Adrenaline cycle has one that is a solid 9/10 and they probably value it at about $5-6K also. The one downside is that this is a carbed bike and that kind of kills it for me. I'm trying to get out of anything with a carb (unless it's race fuel only).

I hear ya on the carb thing! But even that doesn't take away the sexiness of that generation. And that one in particular looks amazing.

What, 70 years ago? He's not exactly Michelangelo
And a mass produced motorcycle isn't exactly the Sistine Chapel.

Respectfully, you don't know the used semi-collectible market. The bikes that are becoming collectibe are the ones people rode before they had kids. Now the kids have flown and the buyers also have disposable income. Very good examples of CBR600F3s are hitting $7000 now.

I just sold a toilet VF1000R for nearly 3k that needs a full restoration. I am well aware of what nice semi collectable bikes are worth now. But thanks.
This is the same story with sports cars from the same era.

If you look back in this thread, you'll see that I called the VF1000R as potentially selling for $3K. I know you buy and sell a lot of bikes and you know the market, but I think you're misjudging the used 1990s Honda market a little. Your VF sold for that because someone saw potential in it, and they aren't wrong. I'm willing to bet someone here who keeps a low profile bought it and I'm also pretty sure I know who it was.
I'm just saying tat I think you're off the mark on that VFR. I know of one in a shop that has about 10k miles I think and is not quite as nice as this one, but I know they wouldn't even think about selling for under $6K. Every V4 Honda is climbing in value, even the POS ones, all the way to 2002. Then the market drops off. I'm sure you know that a nice example 5th Gen will fetch more than an average 6th gen, although technically the 6th gen is far superior on paper.
If you're speaking from personal preference, thats a different matter. I wouldn't buy a 4th gen just because of carbs, either. That's doesn't mean they aren't worth it thoigh. Someone will snatch up that one on facebook for asking price. I own a 5th gen VFR800 and I wouldn't buy a carbed one, either, but plenty of people have no problem with dealing with that hassle.
