What's better about the 4th gen rear wheel?

They just look better, and they are a direct fit. But they're not that easy to find..

Oh OK. Good to know. Personally I prefer the 5th gen rear wheel, so I saved myself a grand! lol

Not gonna lie, I really miss my VFR..
Re: The Best bikes on Craigslist
I was tempted to buy the red white and blue 5th gen (I think?) but there were other bikes I lusted over more.
This threads making me regret it.
I’m such a slut for what I can’t have!
Re: The Best bikes on Craigslist
I was VERY close to grabbing the VFR that NHBubba listed here quite a while back. Not too often a pass on a used bike is later regretted because the bike would have appreciated in value…

That would be a 6th Gen. No cam-gear whine and the sometimes irksome VVT setup, but I agree, what a paint scheme.

This past winter I installed the Ohlins shock and Staintune pipe from good old Aus. She sound a little nicer now and definitely a bit plusher in the rear.

Is that the Ohlins shock that I sold to Scottie, or did you find your own? They are rare as rocking horse shit I think. I got mine from some mad lad in the U.K.
Staintune is obviously very popular back home, but I always preferred Roo Racing as they were exclusively CF pipes, and were from W.A. to boot.

The very same one. Wait, do I own your old VFR?

No, Sean Tull owns my old bike. He restored it (with Scottie I think) and, if I remember, painted the wheels white.
I think Tully went with aftermarket suspension.. from memory there is/was a guy who developed his own cartridge kit for the forks, and modifications to use CBR929/954 shocks.

Yeah, there's some kind of cartridge kit in my forks and it's either installed wrong, has way too much oil or is sprung for a gorilla because the front end on my bike is a boneshaker.
Re: The Best bikes on Craigslist

Not that it matters one bit to anyone, but I'm in the 5th gen wheel camp too.

To be honest I think silver or grey is the worst color for wheels. In a better color, the difference is even more stark

I can't seem to picture those generations red bikes with anything other than gray. But my head's a bit sluggish from last night... :D
