If I was 3k miles closer, I would've gotten it for $900. Probably would've bought Timmyduck's Busa too. Probably for the best considering I'm overflowing with bikes right now always
Re: The Best bikes on Craigslist
Well my ninja 250 sold in about 11 minutes so keep an eye out for a cheapish gsxr for me to streetfighter.

Re: The Best bikes on Craigslist
Ah yes, the Ducati look alike. Cool bikes but plagued with issues. Much, much faster than my nsr but they only last about 5k miles before the motor pops. It would look great in your living room.

Do you want mine ? Pulled the fucker out of the garage and I think the fuel pump is dead. It also leaks fuel from the fuel pump base gasket (which I fuckin replaced last year)

This looks good -- 1982 XJ550 Seca -- on FB for 24 weeks -- maybe $3K is too high? Just remove the sissy bah, and good to go. No mention of title, tho :(

Couldn’t you junk that for $300? Sketchy.

Looks like a Penske sticker on the swingarm, the ad mentions adjustable rear shock.
Repairing the original 900 frame should be straightforward, a well-known fix of bracing at the steering head, if that's what it is.
Lots of good info on ducati.ms
You must install heavy duty battery and starter cables if you want to start it without draining the battery. I use https://motolectric.com/makes/ducati.html aka Michael Heth. He also sells a plug and play ignition upgrade and lots of other goodies. He pulls you in with the battery cables, then offers more and more goodies.
I had a similar hybrid/mongrel 900SS a few years ago, tinkered with it, clean-up, fix-up, battery cables and such, sold it for $4500 in 2020. And 'way back in '97 I bought a new 900SS CR, another one I shoulda kept.
"Perfect" "mint" examples are usually advertised at $8~9K these days from what I've seen.
Crap. Now I'm talking myself into looking at this one. Please someone buy it.

Maybe worth a call, possibly a look? (and save me from looking at it?)
Re: The Best bikes on Craigslist
Damn it. Now I need to figure what he has done to see if it's worth it to me.

...doesn't mention if it starts and runs ... no mention of paperwork (title or old reg.) ... and so on ... would be something to tinker with and fun to ride. I'd guess that you wouldn't lose money on it unless it needed engine or gearbox work, for example. That red fairing sells it.
When I posted questions on ducati.ms, lots of people gave good responses, including replies from Eric at Clubhouse Motorsports in NH.
If you want to talk, send me a PM, I can pass on what I learned about them and what to look for.
Re: The Best bikes on Craigslist
Thanks for the offer. I may take you up on it later. I emailed the ad, it's not her bike, it's her husband's. Runs, titles to both frames, wouldn't answer why the original frame cracked. Timing belt done recently. Higher miles too. Seems like a bit of mess to get involved in it but I will look into it. Like why the 750 frame? Cost, upgrade or availability?
