Has anyone noticed bikes in canada are so expensive? i live 5 minutes from the border, so i look thru their classifieds. the people seem crazy, trying to sell things off for 5-7 grand where as in the states the same bike would go for 2-3, maybe 4 tops. now i check the MSRPs. WOW, an sv650s msrp in the states is 5,450. in canada its 8,799 which equals 7,800 USD!!!! like wtf? are they crazy?

Heres a condom. I figured since youre acting like a dick, you should dress like one too.
MSRP of the SVS is $6449
I noticed that when I went to the bike show in Montréal, bike were expensive, and helmets were expensive but leather gear was cheap

A few years ago i knew a number of people that would go to canada to but their bikes because they could get them cheaper and get colors that weren't released to the states. My ex got a good deal on a gix doing that.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?

because of GST / QST and import duty
GST is 7%
Import duty is 18%
QST another 7.5% (in Quebec)

So MSRP US=6499 x 1.18 +7658 Canadian MSRP, thats pretty close to your $7800 figure. With some extra slop to account for exchange rate flucation between the yen, can$, us$ your there.
