I've seen this on a few of the Ducati forums. I personally think it's hideous.

The bike is a real bike that will be production.
The amazing thing about this bike will be the frameless design.
I was recently at the factory in Bologna and we talked about this bike with them.
They, Ducati is very excited about the release of it.

The first 3 pics are someone's photochop mock up based on Ducati patent applications and spy pics of test mules. AKA pure speculation.
Swing arm is carbon fiber.
Notice the exhaust is on the bottom of this bike.
It too will be hung off the engine case.

Ecosse has already done this. And other manufactures are working on there designs.

No they haven't, they've mocked up the idea in CAD and made a wind tunnel blank. Ducati's actually gotten a patent and is racing the setup now.

If it replaces the 1198 completely, there will have to be a trim level at a comparable price. If it only replaces the 1198S or R, hold on to your wallets gentleman.
An old buddy of mine says it is some sort of monocoque design. Not sure what I feel about steering away from the infamous trellis frame but we shall see.

I hate renderings. Some guy at some magazine draws a picture and rummors start. However, the pictures posted by rocket punch and doc would somewhat confirm the overall design.

There is a picture of Troy Baliss sitting on a 1099 in a garage after track testing. I wouldn't be suprised if that was him on the "masked" bike at the top of the thread.
