Just came here to confirm that I have had way too many bikes.
As usual with me, it depends on how you count them.
Bikes I've actively ridden for more than a year: 3. 1993 Ducati M900 Monster (24 years), 1962 Maicoletta 277 (2 years), 1960 Heinkel Tourist 103A1 (5 years).
Bikes I've owned mainly for significant others: 4. 1995 Ducati M900 Monster, 1991 Honda Nighthawk 250, 1989 Honda CBR600, 1979 BMW R65
Bikes I've ridden regularly, but for less than a year each: 7. 1991 Moto Guzzi 1000 (on loan), 1971 Honda CL350, 1964 Vespa GS160, 197? Suzuki GT380, 1971 Vespa 180, 1971 Norton Commando 750 (on loan), 1976 Honda CB360T
Bikes I've owned for parts, as projects, or to fix up running and flip: Dozens. Mostly small-medium '70's and '80's Japanese iron, and Vespas. I did that regularly in the mid-to-late '80's as a source of income.

DR350
Kasea 50
GS500F
FJ1200
GSXR750
DR350 #2
SV650
(And I sort of have an '01 ZR-7... it's a long story)
My first (DR350) is also the one I used most this last season. SV is a project that has not quite begun.. although technically I have 3 titled SV650 frames does that count as 3 bikes?
Wow, and yet somewhat comforting to know that there are idiots like myself out there in regards to foolishness of ownership of bikes of considerable numbers.
I would keep my count of 20ish to myself out of admitting such foolishness to others. Family and friends have seen the variety over the years, however I don’t think that they ever knew of the total numbers. The total of “Functional” bike at one time I think was 6?
What I have had & Have:
Street, track, strip, dirt, vintage and adventure.
Two, stroke, four stroke.
Japanese, Spanish, Czech, British, USA and Italian.
I know that there is a heck of a lot of bike manufacturers out there. However mine were pretty much mainstream brands. And out of the “Mainstream” brands I never owned a BMW, BSA or a Triumph. I will admit though, I have eyed a Triumph or two lately. Luckily for me my left side of my brain has kicked in and saved me. I have nothing negative about BMW, BSA or Triumph. It’s that they were never a hard target for me a guess.
The winter time can be a dangerous time to explore the possibilities, I blame it on cabin fever.
The greatest percentage of my bike were private purchases rather than being new from dealers.
At this point in my life I don’t think that I will expand much more than what has been obtained to date. For me there is just no need. If I do, it could be for a new model year or a project bike. I’m kinda thinking about doing a “Rat” for a project. I think that it would be fairly easy and budget friendly. And easy to part with, without too great of a financial hit. The foolishness of the money dumped into some of these bike over the years, such financial nonsense. But what a blast with some of them.
47 years of twisting throttles, pure fun!, and still going strong.
Currently sitting on (4) and would like you reduce down to (3)
The multi that I have, it gets the highest percentage of saddle time do to the versatility of modes of riding that can be done. And it can behave well in multiple climates.
I have a very nice tard, It’s on a DRZ400 platform built with too many options that only a madman would do. I didn’t ride it once last year. It’s track ready and street-able.
I think I’ll post it on this forum for starters.
Anyways, today would have been a great day to have gotten out only if I was home to do so.
Anyways, that’s my rant on this topic.
And as ways get it when you can.
00 Kawi 750z

Since 2000
1976 Honda CB200T (crashed)
1981 Honda CM400 (project)
1989 Honda CB-1 (current)
1987 Honda Hawk GT650

CB200T: $700
CM400: $400?

Hawk #2: $2600
So just sale price would have netted me a whopping $6700 (input). Add in gear, parts, maintenance, and track days, on the other hand...

On a side note, I've gone through 8 cars in the same time frame. I might be on the wrong forum.
