So I bought an '83 Kawi before I moved to Mass a few months ago and I actually lost the title (I thought only people on CL said that) somewhere in the move. I never transferred the bike into my name, but now I want to get it registered in MA. If I go to the RMV with a bill of sale will I be able to get a plate and title? The bike isn't stolen, and presumably has never been in the MA system (I bought it in WA).
I've torn my house and garage apart looking for the title and can't find it anywhere. If I can't find it, and the BoS won't work, I'll just keep watching for a frame w/ title on eBay, but it's a pretty uncommon bike, so it's gonna take a loooong time.
If the bike came from a state that would have issued a title for it, Mass will require one. They're also going to want to see a copy of the last reg for the bike.
Bummer. I've got the last plate for the bike, but not the last reg. And yeah, it's from a state that would have titled it.
Reg it in either VT or SD and then just transfer it over.....or even try NH they probably wouldn't care.
Its How Sumo people get a CO registerd in states that are a PIA....

Yeah I'm familiar with that trick, that'll probably be a last resort.
Can't you request a duplicate title from the original state? I assume you just have to prove you own it.
If its legit just forge one
If you have correct address etc.
Somewhere you can do a VIN search I think
