Happy to say that my cholesterol is below 200 now and my triglycerides are back to normal after diet, a little exercise and low-dose Zocor.

    derek
    It's lipidemia.

What is Lipidemia? Lipidemia is a condition in the body involving an abnormally high concentration of lipids in the blood. The typical Lipidemia case sees very low-density lipoproteins or perhaps chylomicrons build up in the blood which turns blood plasma milky white in color. This is because of fat collected in the blood. Lipidemia is not always visible but as content increases (such as Triglycerides) it can be seen.

Lipidemia usually results because of various habits of poor dieting. Eating fatty foods can cause Lipidemia, from mild to moderate levels, as can alcoholism. There are also medical conditions that can lead to Lipidemia including Diabetes mellitus, chronic renal failure, hypothyroidism, primary biliary cirrhosis, pancreatitis, multiple myeloma and systemic lupus erythematosus. Medicines such as oestrogens and steroids, along with protease inhibitors, have also been known to cause cases of Lipidemia.

If your drinking the "pints o Guiness" your triglycerides can be elevated.

I'm pretty sure its due to the risk of leishmania in the region.... blood borne pathogens are never good for recipients.

Want me to re-title it 'what's your excuse' or 'something else to bitch about'?

No, it isn't. I rechecked the doctors note and cross referenced it with the highest authority (google and wikipedia).

lipidemia - definition of lipidemia by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia.

Noun 1. lipidemia - presence of excess lipids in the blood
Also: hyperlipaemia, hyperlipemia, hyperlipidaemia, hyperlipidemia, hyperlipoidaemia, hyperlipoidemia, lipaemia, lipemia, lipidaemia, lipoidaemia, lipoidemia

We were both correct. I usually see it as HYPERlipidemia...
