    Blue Ridge Parkway

My Spring vacation this year was awsome!!!!! A friend and I trailored from Vermont to my Fathers house near Virginia Beach, VA. From there it was a straight shot to Myrtle Beach, SC for bike week. A few days on the strip (everything is incredibly spread out BTW), and we had seen enough Harleys and T-shirts, so we took off for a ‘little’ side trip.

The Blue Ridge parkway is absolutely incredible riding (not as twisty as Deals Gap from what I’m told) and scenery. We got on in Asheville, NC and made it to Marion, NC the first day. Route 80 (about 15 miles of twisties) from the parkway to Marion makes VT17 look like the interstate!!! Marion is a dry county – but wine doesn’t count… The next morning was back on the parkway (taking 80 back up) and we rode to Appamotix, VA (crappy hotels and restaurants). While the parkway is in the state parks it is incredible. Between them, it’s a little straight. The last day was dead heading back to Virginia Beach. 1400 miles in two and a half days. We got a total of about 5 minutes of rain!!!

Sweet! I have ridden a little of the BRP and love it (other then the possibility of receiving a very large speeding ticket by the Rangers). All the roads down there are awesome.

I have ridden the full length of Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge parkway, the first year I went to Deals Gap, I've tried since, but weather has been uncooperative, BRP sucks when it's cold, rainey & foggy

I just got back from Virginia . We stayed at mile marker 85 right on the Parkway !
If you didn't go off the parkway ,,, you missed the BEST roads !!!!!
Spent a few days with buds from there and they took us on some incredible roads , beautiful country !
The Parkway is nice ,,, but the best roads are OFF it !!!!

Skyline and BRP are pretty incredible. I have yet to ride them, but drove the whole thing in my cage - wow, it takes longer than you think.... hope to take the bike down there someday. Which side roads? do you remember any routes?
