    Boots. (Socks?) Help me out.

I am planning to ride all winter. I have a pair of Doc Martens pictured. Tips? Recommendations? Sales pitch?

I think you're going to freeze your toes off unless you have some sort of warming socks.

I also think it's definitely a sub par move on your part, but it takes all kinds to make the world go round...

I wear Sorels (real Canadian Sorels by Kaufman, not the new Chinese Sorels by Olympia)

never had cold feet, even in temps to -25°f (on my bike) or down to -48°f (not on bike)

standard blue felt liners are good to -40, synthetic liners good to -100

to be honest, I think the least of your issues will be your cold feet, if you don't have the proper tires you're not going to get far enough to have cold feet, you'll be on the ground...

I was going to start a separate thread for that very subject. But let us divulge into this subject here.

I know I will need tires with "winter cuts," Maybe blocky/knobbie too? I am oblivious when it comes to motorcycle tires but I have a knowledge of bicycle tires that will guide me a bit.

Keep in mind I would like to ride something like a sport bike/naked this winter.

FWIW, it's going to be slippery - you'll want something with a bit more ankle protection (like, any) when you bin it.

sport touring or sport tires are fine for fair weather winter riding (free of snow accumulation or freezing rain) I do recommend dropping pressure a couple psi to help keep them warmer

knobbies will only get you so far in snow conditions and don't help a whole lot on ice, and in the case of icy conditions, I recommend studs, either Aerostitch studs or drill stud pockets and insert automotive studs

do not use screws on the street

Sorels do not offer much ankle support, but they do have good protection

So I can use either Aerostich or automotive studs on the street?

MY advice is, make an offer to Randy to haul firewood for a day in exchange for a primer on how to ride in the winter, Grit style.
