Thumbs down Looking for a decently priced, decent 1-piece suit?

I have been eyeing the AGVSport Willow 1-piece suit, since I had to send in my Teknic and wondered if it would be back in time for some track days. Comes in blue, red, or gray trim. Retail is $599.

I found it for $539 at Competition Accessories (www.compacc.com) and also found a 10% off coupon code (10SVNW) and got the suit for $488.98, shipped.

There's also the AGVSport Palomar 2 piece suit for the same price. Figured I'd pass along the info in case people are looking. $100 off retail on a suit is a good thing.

That suit is two or three tiers above my base AGVSport one piece, damn good suit for the money.

It's actually the base of their 2010 line. Their site lists the Laguna at $999, the Monza at $799, and the Willow at $599.

Cool, so they're moving up, nice. When I got mine it was $400 retail, didn't have half the pads/etc of that suit.

ive seen that suit in person and it seems well made. you might check out the new cortech latigo suit, it's around 500 and the teknic violator, but it seems you already have a teknic. i have a cheap kobe suit, and im happy with it for the money. thier "dragon" suit would be an option around 500

Don't get me wrong, I like my Teknic suit. It held up great in a crash, except the stretch Cordura on the left arm, where it contacted the curb at the apex in 6.

I just happened to eye this suit when I was deciding whether to fix the suit or just buy a new one. The price was the selling point.

I'm also looking at an AGV suit. I tried on a different model then the link yesterday and it fit well. I couldn't find this one in their store, but they have it online.

Do you guys think that the sizing from one model to another will be the same? I couldn't find much info about this suit online, but it does have the race hump, and some perforation. Anyone heard anything about this?

You Sir know nothing of true greatness. I of course refer to ones ability to steal, drink and generally do nothing, and carry it off with style

Thumbs down Re: Looking for a decently priced, decent 1-piece suit?

Well, after 2 months, I con honestly say that the AGVSport suit is a real POS.

The seams started coming apart where all the panels come together on the inside of the knees.

And the biggest issue is the zipper. It's not a beefy zipper. It's like they type they'd use for a jacket. It also has a double zipper. One that zips it up from the bottom and once it's zipped, one that unzips it from the bottom. Most likely for ventilation. IMO< this is a huge design flaw, especially for long-torsoed people like me.

The zippers crunch together when doing the "suit dance" to get it on and the result on my suit was that it bent the teeth of the zipper. It ended up popping the teeth apart when it was zipped. Luckily not when I went down in a crash.

So, I contacted Competition Accessories, where I got the suit and they won't refund me. They said they can send the suit to AGVSport and request a credit. The person I spoke to (supposedly a supervisor) said that AGVSport will most likely deny the credit and repair the suit. I wouln't NEVER use this suit again.

I'm sticking with Teknic, which I got a replacement from Street & Comp at the track.

You can get a new A* suit for $500. Ask Duncanmoto.

Had Ted been up at the track when I needed a new one, I probably would have.

The lower Teknic stuff is crap. I hope you got one of the better models.

I think I am going to splurge on a custom Pilot for Xmas.

Not true. I had a 2008 Chicane suit and it survived my off in T6 very well.

I ended up getting their mid model, the Violator.

DO IT. love mine and have gotten tons of compliments on it. I got mine just before the price went up and they introduced another model. The new one is the higher priced one and has a couple added features like perforated stretch leather which is probably nice and stretch panels on the shoulder blades that at least for me I don't think are necessary. I don't have those panels and have no problem with mobility.
