manual shows special socket so you torque it down. that's the "adjusting nuts". i'll go look for spanner.

    spacer was off.

You can make one of those tools. Get a socket thats the same size, and either mill, or grind flanges down. I made a tool like that out of aluminum. I might be able to make one for you too if you give me dimensions. Hell, the one I made might fit that. Whats the diameter?

This is the tool I made to take off this nut. Looks similar to what you've got. (its the four pointed one in the back. I made another tool for the two pointed screw in the front).

Let me know the dimensions. If this tool will work, I'll ship it out. Otherwise, I'll try and make time to make one for you.

already try that, not comming off easily without severe damage. it's 33lb/ft of torque or was it 18lb/ft? anyway it's in the book.

33ft/lbs isn't that much, especially with a large flathead or small brass drift. Maybe it's threadlocked?

OH WAIT! 46mm is the overall diameter, yea i measured it. the socket size would be based on the inner diameter of the cutoff? i'll have to remeasure.

Measure from point to point, and then from recess to recess. If its a 46mm, I'll need to make something. I think I have barstock large enough. I'll make it out of aluminum so it shouldn't tear up the nut anymore than it already is. I'd reccomend replacing that when your done.

Honestly though, a spanner wrench should be able to take that off. Maybe try a little heat? Got a mig welder? If you got one, or know someone with one, weld a small bead on the nut. Often the heat from welding it is enough to cause it to shrink slightly and spin right off.

46mm is the overall diameter. let me measure all the dimension and draw it out before you make it.

Cool. 46mm is a big mofo. Also measure the diameter (and height) of that stem so I can bore a recess in the tool to fit over that, and get it high enough.

Rebelpacket's suggestion is the right way. Do not hit it with a hammer and drift. Get the dremel out and go buy a socket from sears that is the same ~diam. I just made two swingarm castle nut removers for my XR doing the same thing. Honda wanted $90 for the tool. I made the tool (capable of torqing, for under $15).

    Hey...I said "special tool" didn't I?
Oxx used a "special tool" getting Amanda's seat off her bike.....
I didn't want anything to do with it.....Cheers Oxx!

Just grab a spanner, you can get them in all different sizes.
Cut a pipe that goes over the spanner tool, and measures a total of 1 ft.
Get a scale that measures 50 lbs, strap it onto the end of the pipe, and pull until it reads 18 or 33 lbs....

If you actually go out and do this........nevermind....
Have Rebel make up the tool for you, so you can put a real torque wrench on it....
