Just wondering if anyone has ever dealt with Greater Boston Motorsports in Arlington? They have an F4 that i'm interested in....www.sportriders.com dealership reviews didn have overly good things to say, but i'm more apt to trust people on the forum. Any advice?

i still feel like i didn't get boned when i got my svs from 'em.

but then again, i did it when scotty ducati was workin' there, and convinced the manager that he could help turn around their rep on SRNE.

I've had a few run in's with GBM. I'm split down the middle with them. Like every dealership, it has it's good & bad people. I've personally delt with one guy in the finance dept. He races and I'm sure many of you know him.... he's cool. From what I understand, the service dept isn't good.

Check this out..... I brought my 99 F4 in there 2 years ago and they offered me $3,000 for it. I was interested in buying a 929 from them and they wanted $9,499 for it (at the time). They wouldn't budge. Joke was on them because Nault's Honda gave me $6,000 for my F4 and I paid $8,499 (OTD).... go figure. Nault's saves me $4,000.

GO TO NAULT'S HONDA - MANCHESTER before you do anything. Ask for Mike in Sales and tell him Brian for Core 6 sent you. HE WILL take care of you.... especially if you're looking for a Honda. There is NO better place... I'm telling you.

    Good Luck!!

We had a rather nasty e-mail a few months ago from another dealer on the GD/BD page.

He was pissed that he was listed there, claimed what was written never happened and threatened to sue SRNE for all of its rather lavish sportbike group assetts.... Jay knows what I'm talking about - private jet, Ferrari's, slim large breasted euro-sluts, etc...

We refused to pull down the bad write-up, but did print his version of the story. He seemed happy and I still have my Gulfstream and F355.

Personally, I have NEVER heard a good GBM story and I meet a ton of Boston based riders through my MSF instructional duties. From hanging out at Moto Market to Vanson parties to just on-line gibber jabber the general consensus has been that they are a bunch of crooks.

Myself, since I'm in western Mass I don't shop there but all these people can't be saying this just to me as part of a conspiracy. There has to be some element of truth to it.

The fact that they have gotten away with it for so long is baffling, seeeing how small the MC community is.

There are a lot of really good dealers out there who work hard to earn your $$$. Try shopping there. And if you want a Yamaha or Kawasaki mail me - I'll hook you up!

a former member of this board bought new from 'em not long ago, and seemed to have a good experience... I was surprised, since that went contrary to everything I'd heard before. keep in mind, tho, that new sales & used sales can be completely different cans of worms... if yer lookin' at used, his experience might not be applicable...

as far west as you are, I'd definitely chat w/ wunna the folk out thattaway (Karaya, fer instance) about the places they go...

I'm often amazed at how much prices vary from one dealer to the next. Definitely shop around, even if it takes longer than you'd like to get what you're looking for. Ya could just end up saving thousands of dollars, literally...

    I have another GBM story....

My friend has poor credit and visited N. Reading Honda to buy an XR50 / CRF50 the other day. He was denied at N.Reading so he tried GBM. They approved him, but he paid close to $350 over retail for the damn thing. He called me last night and said he paid $1400 and some change for a 50 out the door. I didn't have the heart to tell him I paid $985 out the door at Best Honda in Nashua. ALWAYS BUY A DIRTBIKE IN NH.... You don't pay sales tax . I felt bad but at least he got approved for the finacing (I guess). I don't know if this is a good story or bad story for GBM.... but again, why go there and pay $1400 for a XR50 that retails for $1099? hmmm... seems fishy.

i've heard some bad some good about GBM...personally, they treated me very well...i got my gixxer race bike from them this year and they did me right..

if you are going to go there, ask for Rob T. and tell him that Teach and the boys at core6 recommended him...that may help.

other than that, go to naults honda in manchester and do the same, i KNOW they hook us and our referrals up...ask for Mike or Butch.

    my three cents...

Heh, heh...bought my TL-R from the Fonz a coupla years ago. Had it sittin' in their basement collecting dust. 'Course, Paul & I had some words a few times about the price they were asking for it. Took more than a few months to get 'em to see the light, but they finally did....

GBM treated me fine. Sales, Service, and parts. I didn't get a "Jay Stonner fuck the sales team up the ass and then piss on their bikes" (TM) kind of deal but I didn't pay MSRP.

Service department has gotten stuff done fast and well when I've taken the bike in. (Fork seals on the SV, 600 mile service on the VFR, new tires on the VFR) Their service deparment works well if you ride your bike a lot as they assume riders don't have a car which means they do the work fast and they schedule the time carefully.

I wouldn't buy anything from them parts, accessories, etc.. that I couldn't get online though. I checked them out for the helmet I bought and they were at least $100 over what I ended up paying.

That was just a reference to how you always seem to be able to buy a bike for 30-40% of what the seller wants to sell it at.

I'm about 70/30, pro/con on this. I've dealt with them for a number of years, and things have been better over time. They usually meet their turn-times on getting you back on, and I'll buy from them if I cant wait for online stuff. Plus, when my bike got hit-and-run this past June, they fixed 4500 bucks worth of damage in less than 3 weeks, from opening claim to pickup. Pretty good. The one thing I've learned, as in any situ. that tests your patience, is to remain CALM!!! To deal with Ollie, the service mgr., can be frustrating at times, but usually you get a better response when you calmly state and argue your case, rather than getting upset and yelling. Emotional displays usually bring an end to someone listening to your point(s). Everyplace has it's D-Heads, and GBM is no exception. Rachel, in the service dept area, is cool. Nice Beams too, an added plus! Do shop elsewhere when U can save $, but if U live in the area like I do, they do fill a need, so I avoid burning bridges. In general, I have to say that I have had a better, than worse, relationship with GBM. Others not so. Such is life!
