    brake fluid

I know there's a raging debate about auto v. bike oil... but how about brake fluid?

is there any significant difference between Galfer DOT4 fluid & whatever's on sale @ Pep Boys DOT4 for a spirited-but-non-racing guy like myself?

not really. There are differences in brake fluids (even within the DOT categories) but for us not hardcore racers it probably won't matter.

Personally Jeff, I tend to use what the manufacturer suggests for things like this. They say use plain ol' DOT 4, that's what I use. I just go to my local McAutoparts cookie-cutter store and get whatever it is they carry. Hell! For 3 or 4 bucks, why fuck around?

y'know, Jay... that makes some sense (who woulda figgered it?). now that I gots me a MityVac, I should be a bit better about changing out fluid... so how long it lasts ceases to be an issue...

    thanx for the reality check!

I got news for you, for us racer-types it doesn't matter either.

    I use dot 3 and 4 compatible synthetic from Pep-Boys and I can out-brake anyone else on a 600 into turn 1.

    (x2)

Why is it that racers never seem to think that the new guy can learn the same tricks to getting around NHIS as they have?
