brake fluid got on the rotors, now what?

I swapped out my OEM lines for steel and bled the brakes. When doing so I spilled fluid on the rotors.

I haven't ridden the bike more than a few miles, but it "lacks initial bite!"

DO I need new pads? How should I clean the rotors?

Try cleaning everything with brake parts cleaner. It may also just burn off with a little use.

Yeah, it should wear off. Use brake cleaner, wipe clean, let dry, then take it for a test ride. At least you didn't spill brake fluid on painted parts! Don't ask me how I know that's a bad thing.

Make sure you don't clean the grease out of the caliper pins!

or better yet, re grease them anyway after cleaning the rotors anyway as general maintenance.

Brake fluid is water soluble

Shampoo,rinse,repeat

Periodically through the season wipe your rotors
with paper towels and break clean to restore your 1 finger braking

If finally you are not satisfied you can remove the pads and using a piece of sandpaper on a flat surface rub them back and forth.
