Buy a used one for 3 grand and then you can spend a grand on some serious gear to protect your hide. or just go with shorts and flip flops

I think KingCast was better at listening to advice. You are a dealers dream!

If you insist on buying, err, burying yourself, in something from a dealer at least source your own financing.

More importantly never let the dealer have the upper hand. IF, IF you have to finance you can always go to your own bank or credit union. Maybe if you had to have a KTM RC8R racing version, or some other almost unabtainable bike, but for most of us buying main stream bikes there are always deals to be had, especially in the New England off season.

And if you buy new you can work on your own bike without voiding the warranty (just like with a car). Come to think of it most mfg warranties are 1 year. In that time what normally has to be done? Probably a couple oil changes and chain adjustments depending on how many miles you ride.
Interesting if this is true it shows just how much the dealer actually misleads you.. For a better word Lies.

It could just be that Suzi priced the 2 bikes $400 apart in 2011 and the 750 way outsold the 600 and now they have to move the 600. Not really sure. I did see the 2012 price gap is bigger.

Then again before I bought my CBR600 Honda was discounting 2008 CBR1000 below the 600 prices. Sometimes its just supply and demand, or fear that the 1000 was an oil burner.

Have you ever thought about a bike that isn't a race replica sport bike? There are thousands of them out there for pennies on the dollar collecting dust simply because everyone and their mother wants to look like a MotoGP star on their GSXR.

You can find bikes like SV650's that will literally last forever cheaper than a similar year sport bike, and they're way more comfortable and fun to ride.

Yep I was actually considering a 2012 Ducati Multistrada for 15k LOL sorry had to say it though it is my dream bike, looks comfy for super long rides and looks like it would go just about anywhere. I want one when I grow up Sorry 848 evo is also my dream bike.

I can assure you that you did not use 1/2 of the "handling" on your 600rr.

    Nor all the power

Have you rode anything other than a SS bike to know that you are partial to SS type handling compared to others?

Yes I have ridden my buddy's SV650 before he totaled it, also my first bike was a Katana 600.

Then get that 650. It looks the part, is comfortable on 400 mile rides and the handling is good enough to ride circles around most of the Rossi wannabes on the RR's.

Re: Brand Matter or just Preference?

It also has to be a bike I personally "like" the look of. With that said I am not really liking the SV on the forum here, I think it's probably more the naked look than anything. I know I know the fairings just add cost to the bike and are expensive when damaged but I just like the look (I don't like the look of all SS bikes either).

So while it's not all about my "image" with the bike, or what people think of the bike, it has to be something "I" like so the looks do matter to me.

What about the Ninja 650 for $2800? That thing is a complete steal, fully faired and will last forever.
